Ran Carrier for years with no major issues. Running mostly Thermo Kings now and the guy that called them "whisper" obviously never had to sleep in front of one. If these units are properly maintained, they will provide good service and are reliable. The new Vector units from Carrier have a lot fewer moving parts and they seem to be working the bugs out. As others have noted about the kemlite, but also, take a close look at the floor rails underneath to ensure you're not looking at major structural problems. By looking at the condition you will be able to notice any stress fractures that may have been caused by consistent overloading.

$14-16k. I purchased a 2003 utility reefer, with a carrier from crete carriers with 8200 hours on the unit for 15500. Its not cali legal, but I have been out there once. Have no intentions of going back. So far it been a great unit.
