I’ll take this and use it when I can. I just need to be able to know I’m making enough to help with the bills at home. Western pays $35 breakdown a day. Problem is, I’ve talked to so many mechanics in my journey, I’ve basically been told each time that western doesn’t pay its bills on time and that the mechanics have stories to tell of western abandoning it’s drivers during repairs/lockouts, stuff like that. So as far as I’ve noticed, taking trailers to Love’s to be repaired, can be a waste of time and money especially when they western isn’t coming up with the miles to allow you to run and make a decent wage. You could take a western trailer to loves for repair and be stuck there for 2-3 days or more, making just $35 a day while losing money and pre-plained loads. Before I joined western, I did some research, watched review videos and thought, “them drivers are just lazy, I don’t know they must not be on point as they should. But 5 months in, a lot of the stories I’ve heard and watched are true. There are way too many trailers with outdated inspections, etc that western has and pressures you to take and move them loads, risking your CDL. In the beginning, I ran as if someone at western would notice and treat me well. But that was never the case. Now I’m nearly reaching the completion of my contract with them. I’m so frustrated that they are making me rethink my stance on staying with them.
Strongly considering flatbed with them or finding and taking a local job back home in the south suburbs of Chicago where I reside

If their dry vans are in bad shape and you can't get them fixed because the company doesn't pay their bills, why would would you think the flatbed side would be better?

If you like running OTR, there are probably better companies that would consider hiring you with six months experience, even though most are looking for a year.

If you want to run local in Chicago, avoid the 1099 companies. Out of the frying pan into the fire otherwise.
