Trying to decide how much steam I want to blow off today at a certain Transportation Director. She knew darn well our drivers were running on recap all this week and loads would be very tight. She called to beyatch me out yesterday and inform me that if loads were running even :10 minutes late I was to be communicating such to her and her team. On top of that, they kept splitting and adding loads even when we told them we didn't have drivers to cover everything. Dispatcher got brokers, intermodal, and others to help out, but that still isn't going to ensure loads are in the window.
I suppose I'm supposed to forget doing my job and just sit all day monitoring 40 drivers to make sure each of them are not 1 minute late. I hope she and her team enjoy the hundreds of emails I intend to send updating each and every driver who is :10 minutes behind schedule.
And if that isn't enough, the DC decided today was a good day to hold an evacuation drill at 1300 which will last for :30 - :45 minutes standing outside in temps hovering at 100 degrees. She'll be getting several emails informing her what time each load is delivered to us if it is so much as :15 minutes late.
Yeah, I'm in full beyatch mode today, and I'm outta my meds
Have a safe day out there, my DearsRocks Thanks this. -
Delivered load of CMK (rock chip) to a small mixing strip NW of Mcpherson yesterday morning. Very narrow, forcing us to dump next to power lines running parallel to the strip. Didn't like that much, was close to them, enough so that I didn't want that trailer rocking. Then took another load of salt to KCMO. We just about have this massive contract done. From there back to JEC loaded flyash for the Great Bend airport project. Managed to make to the Petro, Salina, KS, where I'll be leaving shortly...

Does the new baby not like the truck?
I enjoyed my day sending emails with driver updates every :15 minutes today. My boss and the dispatcher were finding it quite enjoyable also. The Transportation Director was wise enough not to say anything to me about it after she informed me after the first one that I failed to convey if I had contacted the store with updates. After that, each email included not only if I spoke to the store, but I included the store contacts name and what time I made contact with them.Eaton18, Rocks and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
Couldn't make the next pickup today, so I'm at the Petro in Hammond. Had some container driver bump my trailer earlier. Hmmm... another very minor dent blends nicely with all the other minor dents.
Goin' to the city o' lights for Monday.teddy_bear6506 Thanks this.
