I had a surprise when I went out to lunch today. One of our drivers, a 2 1/2 year veteran, jumped outta the drivers seat and kissed me several times. He goes by the name Tank.
Tank is a german shepherd and I love getting his kisses. -
I dearly love German Shepherds!
I rolled in at 20:30. From the truck stop at for all practical purposes the corner of 59 and BW8 to Conroe for 10 drums non haz for one place and two haz for another place. Delivered the 10 at Maxima Coffee Group. I would swear that place was Maxwell House at some point in it's life. That is near downtown on the east side. The other two drums went down near OST and Cullen Blvd. not far from U of H. Then over near Hobby Airport for a couple of cartons going to just outside the Beltway off Spencer Hwy. And for number 4 got 53 bags of Sorb All off Mykawa south of 610 and took it out to the Chevron/Phillips plant in Baytown.
Dispatch says I made 628.46 today. Not sure if the skim and/or the 30% are figured into it. But not a shabby day of pay. Used a LOT of fuel though. Probably have to hit the house account for more fuel money before the week is over. -
Ormand Beach Fla.
Waiting till 1300 to get out of this furnace.... -
The last load is delivered and the truck is empty. It was really sad.

Corning, CA Petro....Morgan Hill delivery in the morning, MT over to Stockton, swap out MT for loaded trailer over that big hill to McCarran, NV, drop that one, around the corner to McCarran, NV and off to Salt Lake City!
Just checked my logs.....it's been 5 months since I was east of Fernley on I-80......probably still the same. -
In Ft Worth for a few more days, then off to South Dakota for the school year on Monday. No telling if I ever get in a truck again, not missing it a bit, but haven't had to get a normal job yet, either. Might miss the truck whole lot more at that point! -
Monday evening got chased from Garden City to McPherson by severe t-storm. Had to camp at the Wally world in McPherson, so it caught up to me.
Delivered salt to KCMO yesterday morning. Then while on my way back to Lebo to load rock, the REGEN REQUIRED light comes on. It would not regen. Called boss, he said to keep going, bring it into the shop so they can plug the computer in to see why. Well about 25 miles out, it went from the level-1 warning to level-2. It de-rated. At the shop the warning code was Failed to ignite, so they replaced the spark plug, which did not look bad. Tried it again, still it would not ignite and burn. We learned that until the warning code is cleared it would not ignite and burn. However it takes some super secret, very expensive password to clear it. Boss said it would cost him $3,800 a month to get that access. We have to take the truck to a dealership so they can clear it. I wonder how much they charge to do that. What a way to make money.
So got to come home for the night, and now I get to load, go to the Emporia KW dealer so they can clear that code, and then see if it will regen. If not, then it could take around 3 hrs to replace the burner head. If that happens I guess I go visit family, I'm not sitting at KW waiting for them to fix it, when my folks live 1 mile away..
Rain, rain go away... we've got an abundance of water around here right now and still raining as I type. Areas just to the west of here, Emporia, around Lyons, Ks, that have been dealing with flooding since last week. The real heavy rain is suppose to come tonight into early Thursday. K14 / K96 highway south of Lyons is closed, as well as K-99 hwy south of Emporia. Numerous secondary roads have been flooded for days now. I'd say if we get the heavy rain they're forecasting, I-35, Kansas Turnpike, south of Emporia might have problems. I recall one time several years ago, where cars got washed off the highway by a flash-flood that hit at night. I think at least one person drowned.
So if you're traveling US-50, US-56 through this area be very careful, there's numerous creeks and a few major rivers that have been full to out of their banks for several days.Last edited: Aug 7, 2013
