the house.. put the truck in the shop at the Kenworth dealer in Tampa.. Terminal manager beat me over there by 15mins and had already did all the paperwork, all i had to do was park and turn in the keys..

when we got back to the terminal i went inside to pick up some trip seats and my DM asked how long i was going to be down.. i told him they didn't say but i'm shooting for no sooner then Friday, and in the mean time i'll use Thursday, and Friday to make up the two days of drill i missed back in July. He said it sounded like a plan and asked if i was going to wait on my truck or if i would want a loaner. I told him if it takes till next Tuesday then yes i'd want a loaner, but i'm not trying to cut inline for one, he just laughed, patted my shoulder and told me i was funny. Told everyone i'd see them later and started to head towards door when the Terminal manager yells "Mitch, we've got 197 coming in for you on Saturday" i just threw my hand up...

I'm not even sure if i'm going back to work anytime soon, seeing as how my Guard Unit is getting all jumpy over this storm that most likely wont even hit Florida.

Yup... there's a whirlin' blow storm headin' up that way. Of course, my next dispatch is off that direction too. Ya think they're tryin' to tell me somethin'?

So, Dave. Inquiring minds throughout the TTR Universe want to know... good or bad? Your decision or theirs? And most importantly... get on with a better carrier, darnit! Good luck man!

La Vergne TN... waiting to get loaded for Greenville SC.

Dave....don't know the entire story, only that it involves a trailer door. Either way, you'll land on your feet....guys our age can't afford to do anything else!!

Quick story to (maybe) make you feel better. Back around 1999, I was pulling my trailer from a door in No. Charleston, SC. Very little space between doors. I had hooked to this trailer after dropping an empty. Anyway, I do the usual brake checks, and elect to pull the trailer from the door before thumping tires because it was so tight. Windows down, radios off, I ease out, looking left, right, left, ri.....####!

Just as the right trailer door got even with the rear of the sleeper of the rig to my right, the (as I discovered later) STRING that was holding the door broke. The door wedged itself in the corner of the sleeper (tractor did not have extenders), indenting the sleeper from top to bottom and warping the door.

I caught it before I tore the door off, and the Advance Auto Parts driver (whose tractor I just modified) was very good about it...he couldn't believe it either. I even managed to get the trailer door closed using the "slam and latch" method of timing.

I got a preventable out of it, even though I honestly don't believe any driver would have tried to shimmy down the sides of the trailer before pulling it out, given the limited space.

Didn't get fired....didn't even really get penalized in any way.

Again, you'll land on your feet....keep your chin up!!

Isn't that a "dry heat" though? How's the humidity? Granted, hot is still hot either way. I'm just sayin.
