I still have one to go. She's just finishing 5th grade and moving to Middle School for 6th.
With the news today from BBB, I am totally stoked as well as the other contacts I had.
As well as, my daughter who is graduating in Aug will be starting at my alma mater as well. -
Meh..Most are transplants from my home area I've (or other's) at home have stayed in touch with;ol' Army buds I've stayed in contact with,or the couple friends I made just being out here.
Leavin Spearfish for home now, then nap-time..then let the grand-kids babysit me. Hope they let me watch the AMC channel.
Hope they let me have some "goodies."
Hope they let me stay up late.
And mostly..I hope they let me have a friend over.

Teddy_Bear sorry to hear about your banged-up arm
You be careful, and take care of it.
Bumpy, thanks for the invite! One day I'll try and take you up on it. With my sweetie's (wife) schedule and mine, we rarely get to go anywhere. When I'm home on weekends, she's working.
Home for the weekend. Must load "dust" again, real early Monday (3-4 am) to deliver to the Rubbermaid Plant in Winfield. Hauled 3 loads there this past week. Each time, there's been 5 trucks delivering. That's 26-27 tons per truck. When I'm running this area I can barely get enough of a signal to use my phone. The route we use is a scenic one for Kansas. Hills and curves of K-99 and US-160. This area really sucks though if you want, or think you need to shower every night. It's just not going to happen. Only places to camp, are the small convenience store T/S. So yes by the time I got home, I was a real scuzzy driver. I did do the wet-wipes during the week, but that just doesn't get the Kiln dust out of your hair and off of ya'. For those that have never had the pleasure of being around this stuff, it's such a fine material, like baby powder. When you dump it, or spread it (construction workers) it flows like water. It loves moisture, and when mixed with water, it dries as hard as concrete.
Dispatcher must have fell and hit his head. I was running with another one of our drivers. We started the week with the dust run. Then we bounced from Winfield to Severy, KS to haul rock to Kingman, KS. That's not out of the ordinary. However after delivering a 2nd load of rock to Kingman, he then bounced to Hartford, KS, to deliver rock to Plevna (APAC run), and we were to load the next morning back at Severy. That made absolutely no sense at all
. We could have had 3 loads of rock from Severy, on the ground in one day. I mean, if we were to deliver another load the next morning, why bounce us to the APAC run? They are not hurting for material. They have HUGEstock piles at the site. Doing the APAC run, we did not have enough hours left to deliver the same day, as he wanted. If we would have just bounced back to Severy, we would have had the hours left.
Been learning more about the actual mentality of our dispatcher. He actually believes that we are to drive the FULL 11 HOURS. Matters not to him if there's no where to park at the end of the 11. He thinks that the regs, aka, DOT requires that we drive until we've exhausted the 11 hrs. Now keep in mind that we're paid percentage, not miles, so driving when empty is free. He called another driver that had parked at the shop to go home, since he only had 1 hr left to drive, and could not make it to the shipper. He told the driver to get back in the truck and drive that 1 hr, even though there would be nowhere for him to park. The driver just hung up on him.
So I guess even with small companies, the mega-fleet's dispatch methods and mentality are present.Bumpy and teddy_bear6506 Thank this. -
Sleepy Eye,MN..It appears the three "little hoodlums" are coming over HERE to babysit ME..
At least the having treats and
having a friend over problem is solved..
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -
Milford DE... I get to be a "citizen" for the rest of the afternoon! Yeah! Strollin' around, bein' a "not-trucker!"
-
What does a "not-trucker" DO in Delaware?
-
Mingle.
Got a haircut, went shoppin', checked out the cuties, gonna get some oysters n' steak. It's kinda like when ya had a life outside of the el-trucko!
-
IP, even when you're in the truck, I still think of you as a not trucker. You're a sweet (sometimes crotchety sounding) nice guy who needs to get out and mingle with the locals. Sounds like a great day out and I'd guess you're looking forward to dinner.
Bumpers, what kind of treats are the kiddos bringing? I hope they're getting paid well to take care of (babysit) you.
-
Treats for THEM?
Thanx for reminding me.. They get WHATEVER they want. It is my 2nd chance at getting it right.
They will be here in about an hr..Time will tell if I survive it.
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this.
