I do not idle my truck by choice. It gets really bad some nights. If possible, I might go to a motel, but it is hard to find one to get into. In the last 2 years, maybe one night for ac and 1 for cold.
Where are you

I agree...I wouldn't if I didn't have to. If I've got an APU and it's working, I'll use it every time. I considered a motel tonight, but being a holiday weekend and with a race nearby at the KY Speedway, rates are over a hundred bucks. That's when I started fiddling with the "tap the accelerator" method.Roadmedic Thanks this.

Since my PAM Century had Opti-Idle that usually didn't I would sleep in the cold under blankets and comforter and some mornings the truck wouldn't start. But did they ever make the Opti-Idle work right? NO!

No kidding. The rates are through the roof.
If I had an APU, I would use it. -
Strange in that the overall quietest Reefers were Thermo King.
But the better APU for quiet seemed to be Carrier..... -
I had Opti-Idle in one truck back in the late 90s....gawd, I hated that thing. Had a regular TripPac APU on my first Crete truck....worked great! But, it was an older truck and destined for the sale lot, so I only had it for about a month or so....but I really try to operate like an owner-op would. I try for the best fuel economy I can with the least amount of wear and tear. It's the way I was raised, I guess...

we have one of those pos climacabs....sup. to run 10~12 hrs....HA...try about an hour to an hour and a half tops....shuts down...reason? low battery....even tho it shows full....been that way since the truck was new...(we drove this same trk last time we worked here)....
well at the motel....shoulda stayed at the La Quinta tho...will next time... -
Aha...so that's why you're not in the truck. You DO have the spa and the hot tub....but no power to run them! Got it!Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
Maybrook, NY. Saw a prime truck shakin across from me and thought it must be windy, then I realized my truck wasn't moving at all....ohhhhhh.
