Montreal Quebec Canada. Had a real fun day coming into Montreal to find my delivery, especially as all the signs are in French and the roadworks detour signs in french as well and wouldnt you know it the exit i needed had a bunch of detours to get through, did i mention ALL IN FRENCH ! 99.9% luck that i found my way into the delivery without getting totally lost! Then waited from 3pm monday to 10 am today to get unloaded. Anyway was a challenging experience. Just waiting on details for a load out of here so will go do it all again to find the pick up tommorow or thursday. Give me West Coast Cali and Los Angeles any day , at least their signs are in English!

Wow
, wife and I recently got our glasses replaced. Instead of going to our normal optometrist, we used one of those 2-FER places, called Success Vision Express. Bill came to around $780 for 4 pair of glasses. We both got a Rx pair of sunglasses. Now here's what I didn't like, their advertisement on on TV is:
I had to wait about 2.5 weeks for my 2nd pair. Seems they didn't have those lenses in stock??? WTH.
No you're not, I do too, and love getting those racers PO'd. Right now there's a few construction zones I go through. What I don't like is the Pilot cars, leading the traffic, will take off, have you driving darn near the speed limit until you get to where they're working. Then they put the brakes on, taking you down to 15mph. With a lot of cars stacked up, this can be a recipe for accidents. So I just hang way back, waiting for this, so I have plenty of room to slow or stop. Have had a car or two try to pass, but for some reason didn't like it when my trailer "waved" a little..
Holy smokes TB, I thought I got up and around early at 3 or 4ish..
I still don't like backing up much. We have an occasional elevator that we must back into that are real tight. Yesterday had to back up to a rock pile at Newton, (same place I spent until 4am getting the load out of). This was rock, not that screening stuff. The employees parked their cars right in the way. What should have been a quick setup/backup wound up being a major event. Then once you start lowering the bed you're staring at their car, while your tractor is inching closer and closer. Now if that wasn't enough, my last load there, I arrived when they were quitting for the day. Here comes the trackhoe, goes right smack in front of my tractor. I've got the bed all the way up, and was moving forward. I had to stop suddenly. I laid on the airhorn, yelling at him to get that POS out there. The Dumb-arse just stopped and looked at me.
Anyway spent Monday night at Zarco's, off I-35 at US-59. Not as bad as last week. At least this time I was 28 miles from the house. Done my log, and without any fudging had 11 hrs driving time, and 14 hrs On-Duty/Not Driving. Well, actually it was 13 hrs, 59 mins, and 10 hrs 59 mins.. With all that happened that day, I don't see how I managed to make it to this point. I new I was not going to make it home, and targeted this place about 4 hrs earlier.
Yesterday headed for the shop/yard for fuel, and the shop manager had me pull in, and turned the hydraulic pump up. This meant that it would move a little faster with less RPMs, and did seem to help. Made 2 rounds to Newton, and made it back to the yard at 6:30pm. Wife made me a meatloaf, with potatoes, and peas. Yummy.
Getting ready to head out, loading for Mcpherson this morning. Hopefully it's not a repeat of Monday, where I run out of hours before making it back. It will not happen this time. My mom is scheduled for surgery Thursday morning, which she's terrified of surgery. I'm going to be there!!!teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -

Hey Teddy_Bear thank you for the explanation....
I don't eat Chinese food... I'm still in VA... got really mad because of this shipper... the guy who manages the dock... If he had a sign on his forehead it would say "I HATE TRUCK DRIVERS!!" Besides other minor things, the SOB held me there for 5 hrs with no reason. I asked him if there was any problem with the load and he said "no"... Got mad at myself because I didn't ask WHY they took soooo long to load me then... Bunch of inconsiderate lazy #####...
Other drivers told me they have gone through the same experience... even the guard shack confirmed they don't treat drivers well. And the second shipper I had to go today, told me they know these folks and heard the same story...
Everything, all my next loads got delayed now because of this #### If I were an independent driver, I would not go back there ever again. And if I have to go back there and they try to do the same, I may have some talk to the supervisor... Will do my second p/up tomorrow, then going to PA, then will have to p/up my Thursday load on Friday.
