When you get to be our age--there are so few vices left--lol--BUT--even tho it aint the same-on the NJT vs Coney island-Nathan's hot dogs--one of those childhood memories comfort food---both grandad and Dad used to load bulk rolls of cloth--certain times of year when got empty on market--and they loaded the cloth at a mill on Coney island--so in summer--we would walk over to beach and have Hot Dogs!
Still can't pass em up--
At the house for a bit--after a very informative day at a grocery warehouse in jersey--my self and couple of other older types were educated about what this trucking thing is all about from a couple of mega-fleet types! All very informative--even if a little long winded and uninvited--seems I have SO much to learn---went on right up until the other older type looked at me and asked so when did u start-(thought he was older than me but)I said Im kinda new--Im sure you have been at it longer--he said yeah--I started in '77--I said WOW--I've only been at it since '74--funny it was like class dismissed!
And I didn't even get to find out how I can MAKE my Dispatcher let me do WHAT I WANT!
Nite All

Winnemucca Nv. Saw a real bad wreck coming over Donner today. When will people learn to take it easy? Probably never going by the way they all drive.

Because "it'll never happen to me". Sad.
I'm in Great Falls, SC. Got to deliver this evening down at Food Lion in Elloree, SC, then take a few days off to get my head straight. I've just been in a real bad frame of mind of late with trying to manage, anticipate, and act upon everything that is happening both on the job and (especially) off.
And if I EVER find the guy who told me "life is easier after 50", I'm gonna run him over!

Just about to pull out of Winnemucca . It's a glorious sunshining day with snow on the ground and the high peaks are looking very dramatic with the sun on the ridges and the shadows in the valleys giving them a great depth of view. I like trucking everyday but mornings like this are the days when I love it and feel lucky to be out here working in these awesome places of this country!
FloTheWaitress, Dave 1960 and Giggles the Original Thank this.
