Be very careful, Zen. St Joseph isn't too bad, but it's just getting started as of 0430. KC is much worse. A lot of wind, heavy wet snow, very slick roads.Cranky Yankee Thanks this.

Started snowing (again) here last night around 9:30pm, then really picked up around 11pm. Woke up at 4am, no electricity. Started getting a little cool in the house. I got my flashlight, brought out the candles, then found our camping coffee pot and made me some coffee. We have a gas stove, not electric, and I'm here to tell ya' it comes in handy at times like this. Anyway was pouring me a cup, looked up and the digital clock on the stove was flashing, so power back on. I'm knocking on wood, 'cause the lights have flickered a couple of times since.
Still snowing hard here, can't see out the north windows of the house. They're all covered with snow. Not from a drift, just from the snow being blown and plastered against them. Looking like I'm not going anywhere for a little while. KDOT's "KanRoad" map shows I-35, US-50, US-75 are drifting around Emporia and this area. Most all other roads are snow-packed and icy.
TB,
If it's just starting up there, you have all day now to enjoy this lovely global "climate change". I think it's not so much global as it is regional climate change...
Cranky Yankee and teddy_bear6506 Thank this. -

When I first posted, we barely had a dusting, now we probably have about a 1/2". Watching the snow from the comfort of my rocking chair, in my jammies, with a cup of hot coffee is the only way to go. The blowing is quite a show; when the wind kicks in, I can barely see across the street. I've been watching the news and there is hardly any traffic in KC. I think there must have been a lot of businesses that actually did close or told their employees to stay home, or maybe got them rooms close by so they didn't have to drive so far.
If you get out today, Eaton, you be very careful. I hope your power stays on. I'm hoping we don't lose ours.
Pete, TX isn't a very good place to get caught in a snow storm. When you get ready to head out, you take is very easy. No sense getting caught up in the chaos if you can avoid it.
Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -
Folks took this storm seriously and stayed home. The highways in KC are nearly deserted.

Chicago headed to scranton pa.

Howdy Logan76! I was in Wapakoneta... Now at the shipper waiting... At least had time here to do all my paperwork.
-
Teddy_Bear, it's good that you can take some time during this storm and stay cozy at home, resting and taking care of yourself. You really need it. Hope you are getting better quickly and the worst of it has passed. All the best to you.
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this.
