So, I was at this shipper's dock for 6 hrs today. Left with 5 hrs available to drive. Went to a truck stop, the closest one was over one hr away... to get my weight and found out I was 80600 lbs. :biggrin_2556: WTF!? I thought the load was almost 41000 lbs... So, I took a close look :biggrin_2558: at my BOL and found out I misread it the first time... :biggrin_25513: OH NO!!! What a freaking silly mistake! :violent1: So, I drove back to shipper... Thankfully they are open 24 hrs... :yes2557: And they removed one pallet. I should be ok now. But then, left shipper with only one hr left to drive... So, today I drove 210 miles... 65 of which were going back to shipper... Now I am parked at a Walmart parking lot, only 30 mins from shipper. I know this place and the night security gentleman who works here. They allow truck parking :smt045 and it's much, much better than the only truck stop, small, crowded, stinky Pilot in the area... What a day.... But at the end all is fine... Saw a day cab Schneider truck today.... driver ran off the road and ended up in the muddy ditch... :biggrin_25513:

Hey rocks I get pretty fast and loose with pushing the limits on axle and gross weights hauling produce and I've never had an issue with being anywhere up to about 600 to 700 over gross. Just bang it up on your drives and tell them you're burning fuel to get rid of it. I did exactly that going up through Utah a few weeks ago, I was 34700 on the drives and they pulled me in so I spun them my usuall story and they just said "OK" and off I went.
90% of my loads have me overweight and I just do that and have no problems. I'm sure some day I will get pinched but it's not really that bad being 600 over gross.

    Rocks Thanks this.

Do you not go off duty when you are in the dock?

I want to give a big thank you to all of the KC residents who stayed home today so MoDOT could get all the freeways plowed. :biggrin_25514: By the time I got there, the roads were just wet and I sailed through.

Well, at least until I got to MO 59. Calling it a goat path would be generous. At one point, there is a low clearance warning at 13' 11" and I keep waiting to see the bridge until a car comes around the corner and I realize I am under a cliff. It was so dark I couldn't see it.

So, now at the WM around the corner from my morning delivery in Stilwell, OK.

Yes... I understand what you are saying... but I am going far with this load.... And don't want to take the risk. With my luck, I may meet an officer having a bad bad day who might give me a ticket for any extra lb... Actually, there is an officer at one scale house on my route who once gave me a violation on my Roadside inspection because of a chip on the windshield... :biggrin_25510: Later, I read the code and found out chip was too small to be a violation. Had to challenge that via that Data Q on that CSA website. And won, but it took 4 months of phone calls, faxes... :biggrin_25510: ...and I am still not sure they removed the points... So, I don't want to take any risks... And not to say what company may do to me if I get an overweight ticket.

I allways go to off duty if I'm in the dock anymore than 15 minutes. Ive not had any problems from dot doing log checks for putting 15 mins on duty not driving then going to off duty. I explain that the 15 mins on duty not driving time is the time it takes to check in , bump the dock and then wait to get loaded. The rest of the time is off duty unless you're directly involved in loading the product. Which as a reefer driver hauling produce I am but I have never had dot question me on that so far.
