First real signs of spring arrived today... severe T-storms, however they managed to skirt my area, staying a little to the south. It's great, no snow, ice, ya' know all the real dangerous stuff!!
Went and purchased myself some personal/family defense weapon, getting ready for when the commies try to overrun us. I picked up a "brandy new" (borrowing a Rocks phrase), Mossberg .308 rifle. Got a heck of deal on it, paid over twice what the actual retail value is. Thing sells for around $300 and proudly paid a little over $700.
I'll bet you all think I fell and hit my head, gone full goose bozo nuts.

Bought it at an auction, a fund raising auction. One of my wife's bosses had been battling cancer. He just has the run of the mill stock standard health insurance. Well it's now at a point where he's exhausted all of his insurance, and basically is broke, but the medical expenses keep coming, not just a few hundred $$$, but in thousands if not tens of thousands. So anyway the community got together with a fund raising dinner, silent auction, and then live auction. One of the local guys who has a FFL license donated the rifle. I figured this was the one item that might have the most bidding, so the greater donation. It basically was. Heck there were folks that bought cherry, apple, pecan pies at $75-150 ea.
The last items auctioned were a pie and a CD put together by my wife and I, of cookbook recipes. The pie was only bringing bids up to about $40, until they decided to include the CD, Bam.. bidding took off, sold for $150. Another woman the works with wife wanted that CD bad, but didn't win it, 'cause someone else wanted that pie worse.
They had a 3 day, 2 night fishing trip complete with guide. Well the bidding got a little funny. The guest of honor's son, the son's wife, and a sister were bidding against each other, but didn't know it. They weren't sitting together, as they were helping with various things. It ran the bid up fairly high, until they realized what was happening. You see they wanted to make sure someone in the family won that, so they could, (and did) present it to their dad (guest of honor). That was the highlight when that occurred, even brought tears to the auctioneer.
So any way, will start my week around 7am, loading local and heading west to Hutch....Hitman, Zen Trucker, d o g and 13 others Thank this. -

I bought my wife a 2013 Honda FIT on Saturday, and today I cleaned my garage clean out, organized a couple of tool boxes, took a truck load of junk out of the garage and then I cleaned around the house a bit, and hand washed the wifes new car...now I'm drinking a cup of Starbucks blonde out of my kureig and watching my recording of the Pirates game from earlier.
load for Detroit rock city tomorrow at noon, then who knows what the rest of the week will bring me, I'll surely stay busy.FloTheWaitress, Eaton18, d o g and 1 other person Thank this. -

Did you find to do your nails, too?!?

d o g, Giggles the Original, Logan76 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I usually drink Green mountain Nantucket blend or city roast, but I saw a pack of these starbucks blondes at the store and decided to try them, I really enjoy them so far...I'm not into really strong coffee...
anyhow I got my nails painted up really nice and my high heels are polished up for the week to come...I'll be in the roehl truck *click*click*
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Hammer166, truckon and 1 other person Thank this. -
Wow, bought your wife a brandy-new car? Is it one of those half-breeds, er hybrids? Does it take Ni-cad or the Lithium Ion rechargeable?
I need to be looking at replacing wife's car too. It's an '03 Ford Taurus, with the V6, with about 150k. Glad wife doesn't read this forum, she's reads about guys doing what you done, cleaning out the garage and all, I'll be needing to get back to work just to get some rest. Tell your wife I wish her a happy birthday, or maybe it's Best Wishes for the both of ya on your anniversary? It's past Valentines day, not mother's day yet, so has to be one of those...

Early birthday present, my dad checked out her Hyundai santa fe and said it was starting to rust pretty good underneath and i know it leaks tranny fluid pretty bad, so I decided to buy that honda with a 10 year/100k warranty (@ employee price, my mom works @ a Honda dealer) so I don't have to worry about her getting to school or to work once shes a nurse come fall...
Were going to keep that hyundai for winter time and to haul our dogs around in, that way she can keep her Honda decent inside (those dogs are hard on an interior)...my dad put new brakes and tires on her hyundai last week and it passes PA inspection, so I know it should be fine for a dog-mobile and its AWD so it should be better in the snow than the Honda.
shes a hard worker, she takes care of me and does all of the house work while still keeping an A in nursing school, I was happy as can be that I could buy her a new car, she deserves it and more!
Oh it's a 1.5 litre 117 hp motor, none of that battery BS, supposed to get 33mpg, but so far we put on over 120 miles and it's getting 28mpg, i guess once it breaks in it should do better.
I drive an old 2000 F150, its well maintained and as little as I drive I'll keep it until the wheels fall off...truckon, d o g, Giggles the Original and 1 other person Thank this.
