Hoods are killed every day in truck stops, I know first hand. I was awakened and tossed out of the sleeper by a so called seasoned driver, police measured the drag to be around 32 feet of trailer on my hood before he was lodged so bad he could not move forwards or backwards.

 

That's either a rather severe cranial/rectal inversion, or he thought he was gonna haul ### and get away. :what:

Overheard on channel 19 passing the TA at Columbia NJ... Werner, Werner truck no <redacted to protect the guilty!> stop, STOP! You just hit that guy's truck, and you're dragging the hood!

Flying J in northern SC one dark night. Couldn't find a parking spot, so I'm hanging out in back until someone leaves - there's a spot in the middle, but you'd get trapped at the back of the lane because of the way the trucks are parked. So I'm watching when this O/O-spec'd Pete with a lot of chrome and a spread axle reefer comes down, pauses, then takes the turn I wouldn't. He runs over the nose of a Roehl (revenge fer ya Hammer!) takes off the hood... then runs!

Pilot in Milford CT... passed by a really PO'd looking Celedon driver... had a Prime reefer trailer parked on top of his hood. Later... two hooks were trying to lift the dang thing off without causing more damage.

Pilot, Drums PA... watched as three drivers restrained the owner of a W900. He wasn't pleased about the Werner guy who just wiped out his right fender.

He was running his mouth after like it was not his fault, even started to try and run saying he could not stick around for the police. I informed him if he tried to drive away he would not make it to the road alive, I was very, very angry to say the least but was not yelling or screaming.

Well Pete... ya may be marooned, but at least you're entertained!

 

Werner cannot even drive on dry pavement let alone snow or ice.
