I have zero desire to work that hard or to work for any such Chicago outfit. Hope he doesn't end up killing some family in Nebraska.

WOW! Quite busy here huh? 4 pages since yesterday? Good conversation going on...
Drove 5 hrs last night an parked around 4 am this morning at this FJ in Waco, TX. I like to drive nights, sometimes... Thankfully it was quite enjoyable all this night driving this past week... Specially Friday night... good weather, beautiful sky, gorgeous moon, great music on the radio, I was very alert, feeling good... :yes2557:
I was all worried about finding a parking spot at this truck stop at 3 am local time... But after dropping the load at WM, they told me didn't have any empties... So, instead of going to another WM DC looking for an empty, I decided to bobtail here and call it the night... :yes2557: And after I parked this morning I realized I was exhausted... :biggrin_2552:Did some paperwork and collapsed in bed till 10:00 this morning.

I liked this past week... My dsp was on vacation and new load planner gave me long trips.... I guess to keep me busy till dsp comes back?? I don't know... Anyway, I like long trips with minimum on duty time. This is how my last week looked like on my elog from the 04/29 till today...

Ran a total of 3816 miles and had 5 hrs left from my 70 after I parked this morning. Now taking my 34 and will be ready to roll again tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully load planner will already have something... and I can go get my mpty and head to next shipper.
NOW, with these new HOS, I would have to wait till Tuesday morning to be legal to drive again... :biggrin_25510: Not to mention those silly 30 min mandatory breaks that would just cause delay and take more time off my 14... :biggrin_25510:

I have a dilemma. I am 90 minutes from my 06:00 delivery. There is only 1 truck stop between here and there and it is half way. Do I sleep in the truck and get up at 04:00 or drive there tonight and get 45 minutes more sleep?

Are you paper logs or E-log? Paper log either way, E-log...do you know your next pickup and time?

For me, I would need to know more about the customer location... is there parking? Do they allow parking? Will you be able to sleep well at customer? That's why I always call customers in advance and ask all that to help with my planning. If I know the customer has a good parking place and I can sleep well till 30 mins before my appt. time, I park at customer.:yes2557:

It also depends on your personal needs... If you like to have a breakfast in the morning at the truck stop, use the bathroom right away and things like that, then you would be better off parking at truck stop. Some customers work overnight or start earlier than your appt. time... Me, I also take all these in consideration. But if my appt is that early in the morning I like to start my 14 at customer...:yes2557:

I'm actually coming right back home so no log worries.

I've just stopped bothering calling as I've only been one place in 7 months that allows parking. Looking at Google Earth, there is little to no place to park nearby.
