*Waves down to Eaton and olphart*
Eaton, I don't know how often you're coming up to New Market, but they are starting repairs/replacement of the bridge at Exit 25 (?) Camden Point, today. My understanding is they are closing 29 both directions, and routing us to the on/off ramps to get past the bridge. I can only imagine what Foxtrot Charlie that's going to be at 1700.
Have a great day and enjoy the weekend, y'all. I think we're going to go look at some more houses. At least it's fairly cheap entertainment for a short time.
Where are you

Gettin' ready to head out the door for one more day this week. Just like I figured, he kept us running out west. Went back and forth across U-56, K-156 so many times this week, I think I know where all the bumps are, and hit them all every time.
I got to haul Garden City's last load of salt for the order yesterday. Then hauled haydite to a mixing strip N of Glasco. APAC is using it, and the D.A.'s parked a couple of tankers right at (one of) the entrances. I didn't know at the time there was a 2nd entrance. This is in a valley along the highway, so there was no backing out. Luckily there was another tanker-yanker off-loading and moved the one that was most in the way. Also this mixing strip is NOT level. You know it's not good when one of the well experienced drivers complains.
So after dumping the haydite, hauled butt back to Mcpherson to load wheat to go to K.C. (Hanson-Mueller). By this time I'm running short on time. Roll onto the scale and find no one there. Door is unlocked, but no one home??? Called phone numbers posted on the door, finally got some one to call me back. Finally after about a half hour, someone showed up. Guess one of their employees ran a piece rebar through is hand, so they had to rush him to the hospital. Loading at this elevator is no fun. Finally got loaded, and took it to the yard. Don't have to deliver until this morning. I've learned that you don't get in a hurry to deliver to H-M in KC, they sure don't. You can be there waiting to unload when they open, and you'll still sit there for at least an hour. Can't start until about 7am anyway.
So I'll be running across I-70 from Topeka to KC first thing, from there is still one of (my) life's little mysteries.
Summary of this week, let's see I went to Phillipsburg (darn-near Nebraska), and Garden City (darn-near Colorado), and Garden City, and Garden City and oh did I mention Garden City??? Don't care to go back there for a loooooonnnngggg time. You need to keep your windows closed, and a lot of air-freshener ready. It smells like one huge feedlot, especially after a rain. I don't see how anyone can live there.
TB; Thanks for the heads-up. That's not good, as you know, it's the exit I use to get there. I guess I'll have to run up to the Dearborn exit now. Oh well, have to do what I have to do. I will say that bridge needs replaced, it looked like it could fall in at any time.teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -
No kiddin'! Nothing like the smell coming off of the Tyson plant in the middle of that mess! Still doesn't hold a candle to Hereford TX though!!
