Still sitting in the truck at a rest area in VA... with no preplan... Load planner is on vacation this week... Hopefully dsp will find me something and I can leave this place tomorrow. I wish rest areas would sell bags of ice. They should have machines just like those that sell sodas and snacks. One would put money in, an empty plastic bag would drop, then they would open it and place it under the ice machine, press a button and the ice cubes would drop right inside the bag.
Where are you

Parked on the street by the airport in Hays, KS. Will not able to dump until 8:30 am.
Sent from inside my bucket truck. -
Container yankers are bad for the most part EVERYWHERE!
Visualize if you will Steam coming out of my ears and fire from my eyes.
Dispatch calls and says we lost the ticket but EZ wants FMC picked up today and delivered in the morning. At first he says it'll fit pickup. So I unhook trailer. Call one more time to verify and they say take the trailer. I say IF FMC is open until 6 and I pickup I'll have to take it home.
As if they give a rats behind about me wasting all that fuel. So FMC was there and I have what I believe to be about 2200# on the trailer. BOL says 768# but I KNOW that ain't right.
Anyhow rolled in about 19:50 with 243 miles logged and 14 hours used.
To say I am a bit torqued would be an understatement..... -
Pete, I think more and more, these so called "load planners" don't really care... they may not even look at your PTA and how many hrs you have available and how long it takes to run the miles, etc before "planning" the trip and scheduling the appointments. What if you call the customers and give them your ETAs? If they agree, just p/up when you can and deliver when you can. I think the "load planners" wouldn't mind. And if they do, just tell them to do a better job next time.
