Naw naw, was more referring to where I think/thought black was going
-
Nope!
It just happened to be a SWIFT "mentor" this time, But it could have been ANY of the large bottom feeders because they all do this stuff!
I know some decent folks that happen to drive for SWIFT, I even know some decent folks that have driven for CR England too...That does not mean that they were properly taught how to do this job when they went there!
You will find out how much you didn't learn when you get out here by yourself and start running solo! -
Oh, Im sure I will, and I am thankful I have a good network of friends, and people I can ask to here and other places.

Including you if your willing Black
-
It's another name for a toilet. You get on it and take a brake!

Well, here's how it was for me. I came out with a clue...but not a complete idea what I was doing. My mentor's job was to show me how to run a truck Swift's way and do the paperwork correctly. It was a bonus that I was able to conduct a large vehicle down the road without making paint donations.
When I got out on my own, I spent a lot of time at the gossip counter just listening. It didn't take long to learn who was full of it and who had real information. If I didn't know how to do something, I asked an obviously seasoned driver. On rare occasions, I got "the attitude." But for the most part, they were happy to help as long as I was showing an interest in listening.
I learned from drivers like BW9, Condocruiser, BigDon, Redd, even Rerun. I didn't get my real edumucation until I sat around the "old timers" and heard what they had to say. Common sense will be a guide too.
My advice is get your seat time, listen to what your trainer has to say, bounce it off the experienced guys and gals here for verification if you have questions and then figure out which way will work for you. You can ask 50 drivers their method for evenly distributing weight and get 50 different answers. 94% of them will be right.
Redd: did you also tell him to drop his air suspension? That's how I set my fifth wheel on the rare occasion it needs to be moved. Only thing about dumping the air is you can't slam the truck around. You have to be gentle or you can rupture your air bags. And always keep the moving parts under the fifth wheel lubed. You never know when it will have to be moved. A good hosing down with WD-40 about once a month will do it.
Still at the yard. I won't be going anywhere until at least tomorrow.orion3814 Thanks this. -
You was talking to Dick Jones?
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Now that's funny!
You know they are secretly best friends.
-
Would you go as far as to say they are "good buddies"?

Broken down 400 miles from home in Calvert City, KY. Turbo decided to go out on me yesterday. Would've went home but was told the truck may be ready Friday.
