Its funny how things went from LTL/Parcial's to stop-offs for a whopping 50 bucks...:biggrin_2552:

The same also goes for Expedited freight to JIT freight just to lower the rates. I just can't understand people running JIT(Expedite) freight for regular rates. I know when we get the call for that stuff they pay big bucks or look elsewhere.

    Shutdown material pays good too!:biggrin_255:

Yup it is a shame--but it's true--I'll never understand it--but I hear more and more of it from drivers nowadays--funny thing SO many of the customers(mostly receiver) I know who actually understand this--I've had a running joke with one in Pensacola-(orders 150-200cases of butter)every other week--usually a tuesday afternoon delivery(sometimes morning)the buyer comes out on dock everytime and looks at me and has the same conversation with himself
"I needed that YESTERDAY MORNING"(and b4 I even attempt to answer anymore)"and I still have to pay an LTL RATE!"
usually followed by a dirty look and"I know if I want it when I want it--Buy a truckload!"
Same guy on dock we years--we both still get a charge out of it!

Made my del in McAllen just fine. Boogied back up here to the Flying Hook on 181 at Monte Christo.

Hope to be here overnight as I detest and don't do so well at night driving. Night dispatch will probably have other ideas.

I'm not convinced OTR is my bag. Gonna see about driving a garbage truck or haul wood chips local. Maybe fuel or propane even.

Just so you know in advance, garbage trucks usually start their routes between 10 pm and 3 am depending ion what type of route it is. Hauling fuel you'd generally be the low man on the totem pole and be working the graveyard shift as well. Not many fuel or propane places will give you the time of day without some tanker experience or at least 2-3 years OTR experience.

Their are other options out there if you decide OTR is not for you but the ones you mentioned might not be the right ones either.

So as I'm sure you're aware (or maybe you're not?) I wear a Green Bay Packer hoodie whenever it's kinda chilly out. I wear it often and I wear it almost anywhere and everywhere when it's a little cold out.

Well, as you may remember, I wore it into a truck stop diner smack dab in Chicago, where the waitresses were none too happy with me, considering it was shortly after GB beat Chicago to go on to the Super Bowl.

Well....today I was making my delivery. I didn't think too much about where I was, I was more concerned about my directions. So I get to my delivery, hop out, bills in hand. The guy takes one look at me and says "Oh no....we can't have this."

    I WAS IN STEELERS TERRITORY!

So, I'm about 30 miles outside Pittsburgh. At the Pilot.

    ...hiding.

You'd probably need to pay someone to deliver up at the Giant Eagle warehouse... a couple of the gate guards (you know, highly paid types!!) lost over $9000 between them on that game...

Gordonsville VA - got an hour to kill before delivering at WallyWorld...
