Irving, NY stopped on the Indian Res for an early dinner and stock up on cigars....almost home !! Drive safe everyone..

 

At Union Station, Kansas City, MO. What an amazing place! I love the art-deco architecture...the bar is incredible. It's too dark to take a picture in there, but it's one of those with the huge mirrors on each side of the bar and the liquor shelves that go all the way up the wall with the old dark wood sliding ladder in front of the shelves so the bartenders can get the bottles. As you walk in and look at the wall in front of you, there is a wide passageway into a back room with a low ceiling and a much cozier feeling than the main bar. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the Flapper music from the Prohibition Era and you would half expect to see Al Capone stroll through the door. It is very reminiscent of a hidden Speakeasy where people went to drink alcohol while Prohibition was still the law of the land, only the doors are gone now and it's just an open walk through.

I love old buildings like this....so much history.

 

I'm about 50 miles north of you, Injun, in St Joseph. If I had known you were there I'd come buy ya a cup of coffee. How long are you going to be in the area?
