No I can't really. I would go mow grass, or back to wrenching first.

Has been for years and years. I was riding with family one time and he said I have to go pay the lumper I said I’ll unload it. The lumpers weren't happy.

A broom is as important of a tool as a winch bar when it comes to deck work

Its how warehouses get out of hiring ####### dock workers. They have an outside company bring in unskilled labor then they overcharge the trucking Co or broker for manual labor.

Maybe some others know more, but I think it started as a labor union thing. If I had to guess, it was probably a labor union/mob thing way back when.

Honestly I think I have a bit of an edge because this is my first job and I haven’t experienced working anywhere else :D

That's the part I don't get though. Why should I pay a third party to remove your freight off my trailer. It's yours, you don't want it, I'll take it back. What happens if you refuse to pay? That is like me showing up to the crane appointment and the crane operator asking me for money to unload. That crap would never fly. So why does the dry van/reefer crowd put up with it. My buddy is a reefer guy and this topic comes up often over the phone. I just don't get it.

Well I reckon I’ve always been a bad employee then. Lol. I was in the hospital one time for several days and my job knew it. Small business everyone knew everyone. Well the main manager said I had to have a drs excuse for being out of work. Needless to say I didn’t go back to work there.
