I have another hog to butcher when I get home. My wife was just talking about butchering birds. Gonna have to wait until next time. Never enough time.
Lol, I just noticed your gas powered plucked on wheels. When I get my new building up......whenever that is, I'm going to put an indoor butcher station in. It's on the list....lol

That plucker takes the tedious out of the equation. 5hp tecumseh coupled to a 10:1 right angle reduction (250-300rpm), mounted on a small trailer frame, totally mobile when needed, built it for under $200, paid itself back already ten fold. I used to let the Amish borrow it, but I'd have to hunt it down, and sometimes get it back broken, so no more...

I got a new phone so I don’t have all of my 60 some thousand pictures from the old one. I’ll try to find the pics of what he started with….Brettj3876, Flint1, Lostkeys and 8 others Thank this. -
My mom would have loved to have that set up 40 years ago. She raised chickens for commercial companies and before they picked them up she would butcher some for us to eat. Her sister would come and help sometimes. All by hand. I don’t know how many times she did that. I would be playing in the yard with chickens flopping around everywhere.dwells40, Brettj3876, Flint1 and 11 others Thank this.

That's awesome. I've been watching some of Joel salitins videos and the setup he has. Out of the price range I want to spend. That's a pretty cool setup you got there.Brettj3876, Flint1, Lostkeys and 8 others Thank this.

It works very well, and no electric needed. You can build yourself a good set-up pretty cheaply. I fabricated that wood stove with the 30 gallon kettle on top. It provides all the hot water you'll need to do the job, best part is no propane needed. That big two bay stainless steel dairy sink was here on the farm when I got here. I left out bird pics though, somebody on here might get offended...dwells40, Brettj3876, Flint1 and 12 others Thank this.

Other than the ~1850 mile bobtail home from Bemidji, I haven't run it anywhere. Just to the local DMV to get the VIN# verified for the FL title transfer..
Went by Tugs before I run it home to do a few things..
-Put 8 of 10 tires on it, 2 of the drives showed up late.
-2 steer axle wheel seals
-Couple a light bulbs
-Tierod & end links
-Greased & checked all fluid levels
-Yanked the 5th back far enough "should" be able to pull wagon
She got an "estimated" 10-14days of work left to do.. lol
It's got a weird rear mounted through shaft/drive shaft PTO on it that has to come off. Its weeping tranny fluid, & I'm struggling to locate the correct pto cover for that..
Water header is weeping coolant. That gasket to fix that has 33 bolts, so that will be a learning experience for me!!
Letter her up, change all fluids, 1 slack adjuster is lazy, fix ac, 1 u-joint, rear rear diff housing is a little thin a spot, a few hoses have extra connections & fittings for no reason, & most importantly the radio only seems to be getting out a quarter mile or so!!!
Pretty good list of things that need attention..
Buy a truck in the $ teens in this market, it was expected.! Lol
