Went out to Dads today to try and load the 4 wheeler. I bought it new in 1999, dad enjoyed riding around his place so well on it I left it out there the last 20 years.
It’s been setting a good 3 years, but, thought I’d try and see if I could get it to run. Drained the gas tank and put fresh gas in it, primed the carburetor, hooked up the jump box and it only rolled over about 8 times and fired up just as though it was running yesterday. 2 flat tires but it still pulled up on the trailer on its own power. Took it home and put a new battery in it, pressure washed it and it looked much better. Rode it around the yard some and it’s just like it was all them years ago.
Looked Dads John Deere crawler over while I was there too. Been so long I couldn’t remember what model it is, but I’m sure it’s a 40C with 5 rollers on the undercarriage. It was a good running little crawler, just needs some tlc along with attention to one of the cutting clutches. Project for another day here in the future…

The dog does not look impressed with the situation.
-
Lol, she’s just happy to be anywhere I am, absolutely my best buddy. Wife says she mourns when I’m on the road…. -
Of course it fired right up. It's a Honda. Probably would've run on whatever varnish was left in the tank.
-
What came out of the tank looked like orange Gatorade lol…. -
As high as them 4 whillers are these days, I’d be inclined to recover the seat, and clean it up.
I almost parted ways with my 2010 Rancher ES when it had a starter, battery and shift solenoid quit almost simultaneously with a rodent/harness issue.
Id get $500 for it not running, so $900 or so in repairs was better than $7k or so to replace.CAXPT, IH Truck Guy, beastr123 and 11 others Thank this. -
I just traded my 2014 Rancher with 245 miles on it to the SIL for the next 2 years of beef to butcher so I can buy a 23k+ Polaris 1000XP General with a doors, windows and a heater— nobody has ever accused me of being a businessman

That’ll be nice. Neighbor had one similar, the heater is a nice addition.The_vett, CAXPT, exhausted379 and 9 others Thank this.
-
Wether or not I get one I’m just happy that we made it to the point we can help the Kids and have fun doing it — he needs that Rancher a lot more than I do
-
Next project...anybody here switched the whole thing over to stainless?CAXPT, TX2Day, exhausted379 and 5 others Thank this.
