Might stop there next week if things go as planned. I should be in Mattoon, Illinois and Hebron, Indiana at some point…..

 

I-64 reopen after fiery semi crashes

 

Good for you @cke . I quit otr a long time ago, but getting out of the truck and having a nice supper, having a short conversation with another human being, and acting like a human for a few minutes was the highlight of my day. Of course using the phone on the table to check in with my family was part of what I would look forward to also.

Can't complain about truck stops not having sit-down restaurants anymore if we don't support them.

 

Even the fuel island meals are pushing $15 -$20

 

I picked up the cooking in the truck , after wanting to save some money. But I also enjoy cooking at home so it doesn't seem like a burden to me..

I put a pork shoulder in the crockpot in Vegas and made some tacos tonite in phx, along with some thursday nite football

 

That's hard to beat.

 

Yeah - you’re right, Even with a bit more space in the sleeper, and a microwave, it’s fine, but doesn’t compare to having
-
A hot meal served
No dishes
A friendly waitress

And if paths cross, the company of a friend.

And if it costs a bit, it’s worth the payment to the loneliness of eating reheated leftovers in a darned tin box.

To add - yeah , if we don’t support the restaurants, they will all slowly fade away.

 

Heading upriver this afternoon and passed something I couldn't believe. Turned around and went back, sure enough, a box turtle swimming across the Arkansaa River.

I pulled up next to it, and the dahm thing tucked his head, closed his shell, and just sat there floatin.

I figured he wouldn't mind a hitch to finish his trip, so I gave him a ride.

Never even knew a box turtle could or would swim. The river is about 500 yards across where I passed him.
