I look forward to it every year. The "rules" state nothing you would find at a "normal" Thanksgiving dinner. Only historical or new cultural dishes.
Two years ago I made popcorn for the movie we have after dinner. My popcorn is cooked in bacon grease and then spun coated with 2/3 honey 1/3 maple syrup and Himalayan pink salt. Seemed to be a winner, the bowl was empty.
Looking forward to new delicious dishes this year.

Yes but without the ladder.
Many an air conditioning unit and light pole did I set with one of those. Got pretty good at setting foundation steel and trusses toosinglescrewshaker, exhausted379, CAXPT and 11 others Thank this. -
The winner for me this year was a turkey soup, broth based, with veggies and chunks of turkey with enough Cajun spices to clean out your sinuses. Bring your own mandatory hankerchief. Gosh that was good.
Then the Irish folk brought an -old- recipe for Colcannon which is a cabbage and mashed potatoes and cheese side dish. Somehow a big spoon full of that ended up in my soup bowl. I think I have had the winner for
this year.singlescrewshaker, cke, CAXPT and 4 others Thank this. -
I forgot the dry aged, heavily seasoned, done on a open fire on a home made spit, buffalo roast. OMG thought I had died and gone to heaven. So tender, so very tasty.
Thankfully this is the last feast like this one this year. Love the food, but don't need the calories.
I need to make more popcorn for this evenings movie. Seems it was in demand this evening.

Question for any of you that may use a 1911 frame pistol with a .22LR conversion slide. I have a Kimber that I bought the conversion slide for and have been fooling with lately. I kept it as a nightstand loaded and safety on, but since bought a Glock 47 chambered in 9mm, that serves the purpose so I've been keeping the Kimber with .22 on it lately.
CCI ammo - Velocitor at 1435 fps cycles flawlessly. Federal, and 'American Eagle' (which has the same 'F' stamp on the base of the rounds), will not cycle correctly.
I tried a couple of mags from a box of Winchester '555' (555 rounds in a loose box), at 1280 fps - and haven't had any failures.
The CCI has a 'Mini-mag' round, at 9 cents a round or so, the 'Velocitor' are about 20 cents a round. I've yet to try buying a box of mini mags and testing.
I see there is a range of 'FPS' with .22LR, from subsonic 900 fps to 'standard' 1000 or so, then what they call 'high velocity' seems to start at 1200 or so, to 'hyper velocity' up to 1700 fps.
I'm also unsure if the FPS translates into energy directed to cycling the firearm.
Learn me.
Any thoughts ?singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, Gatordude and 8 others Thank this. -
Your light years ahead of me. But starting as a kid. A box of federal 22lr. I found absolutely useless. Didn't cycle and a bunch of misfires. We were just plinking. Ill never purchase anything with the federal name.
Rest of the high technical data left to someone better than me. Just my opinion.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, Sons Hero and 9 others Thank this. -
I’ve been telling the folk in Carlisle if they want drivers to not drive off the loading dock they need to make sure they put up signs in at least 5 different languages.
But alas, people drive off the dock.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, Gatordude and 8 others Thank this. -

And after....
Not much you can do to improve the looks of a Freightliner but it's something anyway. I ain't no Earl Scheib but I reckon it'll look alright from 50 ft away.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, Gatordude and 15 others Thank this.
