    Just a question for the group:

    It seems that these problems were a lot more rare in days of old, but maybe it's my selective memory. Emission systems aren't helping, and there is no way that sucking in your own gas can be healthy (egr), but doesn't it seem like the one-time standard of rolling in bearings every 300K and doing inframe between 800k and a million doesn't happen that often anymore? It probably has a lot to do with higher compression ratios and getting more power out of the same displacement, but these head gasket/liner protrusion issues seem much more prevalent than they used to be, regardless the paint color.
