Spent a month one night in Bismarck. Ambient temp, -29, wind chill was -64.

Longest 34 hour reset was in Grand Forks, lasted about 68 days it seems.

    No more Deere…….

When I was doing food service spent a lot of time in the middle of winter in both Grand forks, Bismarck and Minot, I couldn't think of a colder crappier place to have to hustle food out of the back of the trailer, pulling stuff out of the freezer section of the trailer and it was warmer than the outside temp most of the time. That was the good old days though, when I didn't need a day to recover physically from mounting 8 new tires on my truck like I do now!

Watertown SD and Redwood Falls MN a couple of winters ago , running to Montrose and Telluride CO can get the side eye too.

It did save the year financially, but I earned every last frozen snot dripping penny.

I read this the other day and thought about it.

After 21 years of it - we took this one off. Just her and I, TV , I drank a few beers and cooked a chicken quesadilla. Long afternoon nap. No visitors. It was great.

$200 split between 3 adults and 2 little ones. Cash. Easy.

Christmas tree stays up year round for the last 3 years.

Only extra step I took was to give the 6 year old granddaughter an ounce of silver, with a letter explaining how we bought it for $17 15 years ago and it was now worth $70, and instructions on what to study in the next 10 years relating to Mathematics, Science and investing - until she can have it in her possession on Dec 25th 2035.

Aaah - the joy of giving kids homework assignments.
