How do you tell the difference?
Knees and ankles pop and crack. Same for shoulders and elbows. Thats just putting on some socks. Probably have replacement parts on order soon. Did a lot of damage in 65 years.The_vett, exhausted379, Feedman and 5 others Thank this. -
Here's a conundrum...
Ranch sends in a pickup we've been hounding them to bring in since September.
Losing power, leaking oil, long list of problems. Had to all but drag it into the shop.
It's previously had weight loss surgery.
We remove the leaky EGR cooler, replace exhaust manifold, extract five broken manifold studs from the head, fix several oil and coolant leaks.
Truck won't start. We determine the CP4 fuel pump is shot. Luckily there's a recall for that expensive fix. Off to the dealership we go.
New pump, injectors, lines, everything that touches fuel. Still no start.
After a compression test and a bore scope in the cylinders there's holes in several pistons.
223k miles. It's a 2020 Ram 3500.
Do you fix it or sell it and move on?Friend, The_vett, exhausted379 and 4 others Thank this. -
And you got to have a little clean and sweep and find some lost tools while you were at it!The_vett, exhausted379, Feedman and 4 others Thank this.

I like updated versions over the years. Often times they’re recorded out of a new artists love for the original, and full of appreciation.
Fast Car (Chapman) redone by L Combs.
War Pigs (Black Sabbath) redone by Faith No More
Manfred Mann’s version of Blinded by the light kicks the heck out of Springsteen.
Disturbed version of P.Collins Land of Confusion.
Never fails to surprise me over the last 70 years of music how many tracks are covers/updated.
I started listening to new country last year, never listened to much country before. The old hands poo poo it, but I think the younger kids relate to it in the same way their parents did in their day.
I got sick of listening to music from when I was 15, there’s so much more out there to try.
There’s also a lot from Australia/NZ that never got airplay here that I know many would like. I continued buying it from over there when I moved here 22 years back.IH9300SBA, The_vett, exhausted379 and 13 others Thank this. -

Can't agree to any of those...and I listened, after you posted them. Yuck.

I like very few remakes, mostly only those where the artists actually recreated the music making them sharper with modern instruments, with very little changes so it sounds like the original and in the case of songs, you can still sing to them with the same muscle memory as the original..or very close to it. Alternatively, older versions that were made better by the more contemporary artists, many of which we grew up with, not originally knowing they were remakes, because they didn't sound anything like the originals but were better and became standards.
Songs like:
Spooky - Classsics IV and Atlanta Rythm Section (same instrumental tempo, pace and recreation - Guitar solo instead of Sax)
The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia - Vicki Lawrence and Reba McEntire (more powerful vocal but same tempo)
Pop A Top - Jim Ed Brown and Alan Jackson (stronger instrument and voice, but melodically the same)
Venus - Shocking Blue and Bananarama
California Girls - Beach Boys and David Lee Roth
Etc.
I guess I differentiate between a remake, and a reimagining/interpretation.
