Here’s buddy. Axel by adoption.

March 2018 I found him in Altoona, IA - about to turn into the Flying hook. 6 lane intersection. I’m stopped at the light.

I see a furry tail drop down from an engine bay in a pickup, across the way. I set brakes, hop out the cab, and move towards him.

Seconds later, Axel decides NOW is a good time to move. Seconds later - light turns green, mayhem ensues. Loses 7 of 9 lives avoiding Michelin and Goodyear. Axel makes a bee-line for me, 150 feet away, jumps up on the trailer tires. I grab him, in the truck we go.

He’s a Maine Coon. Got him all full of vaccines and shots, antibiotics to treat skin infection. He WAS a house cat - some douchebag declawed his front paws.

Was 9 lbs when I first took him to the vet. Now weighs in at 14 lbs, and 30” nose to tail.

I’ve got reasonable hand strength - he takes all I’ve got to mash his jaw into my hand for skritchy-skritches.

First animal I’ve ever known that ignores the food bowl first thing in the morning, and wants a big old hug and head nudging cuddles.

Eats like a horse - these little buggers apparently grow to 4 feet long. I’m trying to keep him in my good graces just in case . . .

Lord help y'all when the hipsters and urbanites in OKC start looking at the more rural areas and start flocking there.

They infest everything and drive prices sky high. That or the liberals from each coast and up north that come in and buy up the larger parcels of property and ranches, which also drives up prices and screws over the normal folks.

Its happened all over Tx and I can't figure out how to escape them.
