Man I reccomend you take your time, research everything you can and make your choice. I'm an O/O and really don't know much about companys anymore. My speed o meter must be off. I'm in the low side of 14 and TMC is right on my donkey, there is some motor there. :)

Watkins Sheppard is actually a really good company to get on board with. They treat their guys really well and they start at 29 cpm. The only downside is they only give you a 10 day orientation and if you complete it, they pretty much just toss you in the deep end to learn everything yourself. Their website even states that you need to be ready to be on your own after that. If you are a quick learner I am sure you will get the hang of it.

On a side note, I actually applied with them after I got my CDL. Only reason why I didnt go with them was a LTL company called me first and offered me almost double the CPM and daily hometime. I definitively would have gone with WS though.

I was the same way before and after getting my CDL.For some it takes longer and more patience.Nothing at all wrong with that.In many cases they turn out to be one of the best drivers.Companies are pretty much the same to new cdl holders.Theres good and bad trainers with every starter company. You just have to pick one and hope for the best. You're not going to receive any special treatment because you're not quite advanced as others are.It takes time and hopefully you get a understanding and patient trainer. When you do go with a trainer listen to everything he says and ask questions.Does'nt hurt to write things down.

First of, TMC will hire anyone that has a pretty clean driving record (can have a few tickets) and a decent work history. Were not top drivers by a long shot although that's the image they try to show. Flat bed isnt to hard and they show you how to secure everything in detail. We hire mainly new drivers, not experienced drivers. Whoever says you need 2 years before going to tmc has no idea what they are talking about. Its not rocket science. The advantage to TMC is the money. A new driver has the potential to make the same a 20 year veteran since everything is performance based at TMC. i made about 60K my first year. When I became a trainer I made another 30K. 60K for a driver right our of cdl school is a lot more then anyone driving van will make. It was enough for me to buy my own truck without any financing. I averaged .47/mile my first year. (they have % or /mile pay but the % pay will make you much more since /mile is only .36 while % pay gets you around .47)

    WA_Slim and Desert_Skies Thank this.
