I've had issues with my APU all winter due to the exhaust being routed up wind. The exhaust constantly gets caked with snow and ice and its a royal pain to get it out. If your APU every start knocking loud and has smoke pouring out of it just take a look inside your exhaust.

Well the APU fix didn't last long. Left Van Buren made it to Conway and it went again. I just shut the valve off, not going back for more down time on an APU (least wise not in the winter)

I think if you drove more and stopped less your APU wouldn't be worn out.. VB to Conway and you are firing up the APU already?? Lol...

That sounds like a challenge? Care to compare paychecks (miles vs. miles)? I'll bet I could give you a run for your money. ;)

I know one thing.. My apu doesn't run much until A/C weather kicks in. The heater doesn't require the APU to run and I don't have a lot of stuff running all the time to drain my batteries. The quiet truck is nice. And I don't spend time in shops waiting to get my APU fixed.

    Thomas0810 Thanks this.

I don't either. There was another problem at hand and they decided to fix it at the same time. I don't hardly run my APU in the winter either but when I stopped on Conway the switch was still on and it kicked on. I don't like waiting my time trying to get that fixed. That is why it is currently not (and will stay for now) not running.

I was thinking about driving for USA. I live in western NY. Carlisle, PA would be closest term. I did train for years and was looking at doing that again. Can you mossy backs tell me if they run paper or e logs, do the trainees stay on the truck 6 or 8 weeks.Does the truck run like its only a solo truck or a team when you have a trainee? I ask because they did that at transport America ( that's why I'm alive today) is it a bigger truck for training or are they all the same size? Just curious about the particulars at USA. Thanks for your help.
