Sitting in Missouri off I-44 on way to Phoenix. I could not make the noon Friday appt due to lack of hours, and they could not find a repower, so they had to move the appt to early Monday morning. So I get to drag my feet out to Phoenix.

What do you haul @STexan ? Do you do a lot of coast to coast like these past few weeks or this this out of the norm?

Did 2 drops and a pickup in Joisey yesterday, and still made it to Smithton, pa before my 14 hr clock ran out........ barely.
Place today took me 4 hrs early, and am about 15 minutes from my next pickup at 10 in the morning.

Reefer. Frozen and dairy makes up the bulk. Coast to coast and other 2,400+ mile runs happens pretty regularly here especially for the "runners". Vermont to Seattle/NorCal runs, and Virginia to PacNW are common. This type of running suits me perfectly which is why I like it here.

But we do a lot of stuff from the central part of the US like from TX to MN out to either coast. Overall, average length of haul for me is around 1700 miles depending on the month. Occasionally well run north/south or a Dallas to Atlanta or Casa Grande kind of thing which we consider short usually translates to 800-1200 miles. A few drivers here will make it down to Florida a few times a year but I've not and have no desire to.

Oh wow! Yea that's what I didn't know if you were doin produce or meat or anything specific. Or if you were O/O or company. Frozen and dairy is not a bad gig. I liked doing that. Where I first started trucking we had a contract with Prairie Farms so we did tons of dairy and specialized in deep freeze loads. Sounds like you're on with a great company.
And I'm with you on the no Florida. We just started goin down there with a regular account and apparently can't find anything to get back out. I talked to a driver last week that did it and she said they bounced her like 415 miles up to South Carolina. Gadzooks. Thanks for the reply btw I was just curious.

We don't do any fresh meats and only a very rare produce load like lemons or limes or potatoes that have little risk, and only when necessary and when it goes where we need to go. We also do some other chilled stuff outside of dairy, like orange juice and other prepared foods.

Gotcha. Well that's interesting. I like pulling reefer it's interesting I think. In picking up potatoes tomorrow actuallyits funny you mentioned that. It'll be my first load of taters I had no idea they had to be refrigerated, but that's what dispatch mentioned tonight.

Santa Rosa, NM Pilot. Always stop here for the night when possible. The food and beer down at the Silver Moon Cafe is awesome. Some afternoon scattered showers (mini storms) passing through the area up from the south, with a broader system moving in from the west later this evening.
