and did you actually like attend the orientation for the program and have a career agent bring you to their office and enter your info into the computer and then say sorry you cant qualify? or did you ask just like the lady at the front desk? if its the latter I would go back and not say anything about if youll qualify just ask how you can get started with the wia program.

its state by state, but I do know that a lady in my class was working at waffle house while in school, idk if that was after or what but I don't think. it comes down to how much household income your household has and your personal income also I think, its definitely worth checking out wont hurt anything

I am in Tennessee. I went and talked to a local truck driving school, and they were saying how they recently changed it where you can also be employed but low income instead of just unemployed. They were also saying how it's a good time of year to receive money. I think they were expecting me to receive about $2000 or so.

To the OP: you have grants that might cover public schools if you qualify. Also, many private schools offer financing, so there is that. Not that company provided training is always a bad idea.

Watch out for CPM as a big deal. It all depends on the miles and that depends on many variables. There are other things I am considering like home terminal location. What accessorial pay do they offer. How much do you want to do outside of driving and how much do they expect. Other things that may contribute to a better quality of life on the job...General appearance of their equipment on the road and Number of units rolling in my area. I have high standards and expect the same from my employer so I'm taking my time. Good luck!
