The car should NOT have hit the brakes, the dump/pup had itself plenty clear for the car and T/T to get through, though, he should have been entering at a more cautious pace. The T/T coming off the HWY should have slowed MUCH sooner, it was going far too fast for the exit ramp. In all, 3 idiots are the cause. Ultimately the T/T driver should pay the price, and the car driver is a freaking idiot.

Truck driver at fault. Following too close and obviously not paying attention.

There is a reason you should keep distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Always!

Any time you rear end someone, it is automatically your fault. He yelled "your fault!" to the 4wheeler but he the truck driver is the one at fault for hitting. I hope the people in the car are OK that was a massive hit.

Words to live by. My dad told me that before my 1st driving lesson 49 yrs ago . My truck trainer said the exact same thing 28 yrs ago. wow I've been driving almost 50 yrs, no wonder I'm tired ;)
IMO the fault is 50 50 between the car & the truck following. I think the car driver was intimidated by the merging dump but he could have sped up a little to get in front of the dump or slowed down a little. You do not stop in the travel lanes unless the road is completely blocked. The trucker should had enough following distance to stop in any situation.

Car wasn't being nice. They panicked when they saw the dump truck.

There's a million reasons that someone ahead of you can do something stupid like that, expect it. Dash cam dude screwed up big time.

Of course this was the truck driver's fault. If the car hadn't stopped the dump probably would have pulled between the two vehicles and this guy would have hit the dump truck. He was moving too quickly, he was following too closely (count the following distance, video can make it look further than it really is.

No matter how stupid the 4wheeler was....and they were stupid!!!! The T/T seemed to be going way to fast. If you drive around the silly circles in D.C. and Baltimore and are not watching everyone and anticipating the worst you will end up like this! I'm wondering what the driver was doing that caused him to react so late?? Possibly posting on TTR?? Lol!

If there is anyone other than yourself on the road. Assume the other guy could be an idiot and expect the worst.
