You and about 95% of every one else on here have no idea what the true meaning of a "outlaw" trucker is.
And I dare say there are far more e-loged, Qualcomm company trucks crashes, why? Because I know if I crash my truck I'm not only out of a job but out of business as well. I dont have a fleet of empty trucks in my back yard to fall back on.
Tell me new breed driver, just how many miles a year do you drive? This old timer so far this year has only driven just over 65000 miles, the way I see I could really use one of the e-log things so I can tell my dispatcher I aint got the hours to run cause I'm so over worked as it is.
Let me clue you in on something, as long as fuel, the price of new trucks and trailers and taxes keep going up you can kiss your better pay good buy.
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Tomorrow's owner operators are today's lease operators who come from the current crop of today's company drivers. All these new drivers are coming up in a system of 100% compliance. We will show you how it's done son! I guarantee you CSA 2010 will bring higher pay and safer roads than the outlaw ways under your watch. -
THAT's who's going to show us how it's done?07-379Pete, THBatMan8, Cowmobile and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't think that most lease operators have the discipline to become an owner operator. Those of us who are and have been owner operators for some years saved our money and either paid cash or at least enough to make a good downpayment. I would wager that most lease operators could not find two nickels to rub together to save their life.

Funny how its always noob truckers and the corrupt government administrations who have all the answers on how best to regulate and micromanage those who have been out here for decades and have never layed a scratch on anyone ever, yet see countless megafleet trucks rolled in the median every winter and sit in traffic jams while the 2 minivans get cleaned off the interstate.
BTW, "Outlaw" truckers was used decades ago to describe those who didn't have DOT authority to operate, yet did. Apparently noobs have adopted the term "outlaw trucker" to label every driver not using elogs or EOBRs. Don't fret though noobs, in 25 years from now (if you last that long), there will be another generation, unborn as we speak, who will have all the latest solutions on how to manage an industry that they don't know dick about.Mommas_money_maker, Dave 1960, 25(2)+2 and 8 others Thank this. -
LOL the reason why they dont have 2 nickels to rub together is because their company didnt give them any and/or tell them what to do..

what would the better pay be if your only running half the miles? sure, .50 cent a mile sounds good..but run 1400 miles a week and see where it takes you..sitting at the truck stop with nothing to do, so you end up spending more.
