you know , sometimes I wonder why truckers are abused and exploited? here is the answer.
and I also wonder , how come shippers and brokers make so much money? here is the answer.
I ask to get pay my rate , and if they don't , then I wait. I don't cut throat to others so I can survive in my business. but that is me.

I like your zeal to price your service. Mine has a dynamic rate depending on what is involved. It’s starts standard but has some eb and flows. I will always hope it’s lower than yours. You are my competition, well maybe. I am in no danger of going out of business and am doing well , considering the market. I am expanding. Are you?

You won’t get Rich doing full-time gig share, rideshare, Uber, deliveries but after all your expenses you can make about 70,000 a year if you do it full-time. She sets aside about $500 a month towards her next vehicle. The government gives her a more than generous tax write off per mile. I might be wrong on this but I think it’s around $.38 per mile. Which in her case adds up to like $27,000 a year off the top that’s non taxable. She drives a Prius, so fuel costs are minimal. The last Prius she had went 350,000 miles and gave her about 5 to 6 years worth of consistent gig sharing delivery stuff. It’s just like any other business and how you set it up. She also keeps a 2010 Toyota Corolla as a back up vehicle for when her Prius might be in the shop. So she can keep going. She does well at it. Lives comfortable.

You are believing every story you hear or read. Don't do that. Lots of stories are exaggerations. Some are fictional or "if everything goes exactly right".

Find the job inntrucking that matches what you need before you start investigating going to CDL school. Make any trucking company put you in contact with a current working driver working for the account or division you will be hired for. Ignore recruiter guesses & averages & company web site claims. Have the driver tell you what he earns per week, what schedule he works, how often he gets home & for how long.

A normal OTR trucking job is equal to working almost 2 full-times jobs per week. You aren't guaranteed to have a place to park every day/night & customers often treat you as poorly as people treat homeless beggars. In addition your time off could be as short a 1.5 days off peer week. 80-90% of new CDL drivers quit long before they get a year of experience. It's not like any other job you have worked.

I can tell that your rates are half of what is mine. And you or anyone else here is NOT my competition. My competition it is myself. My record , my service , my discipline and responsibility shows to brokers that I deserve what I ask for. I have an standard service and I don't lower it because of you or anyone else.
Im glad that you are expanding and hopefully you are paying your drivers what they deserve. unfortunately there is companies who are taking advantage of drivers, and I hope you are not one of them.
Not , Im not expanding , in fact, I sold my other 2 trucks 8 years ago. I had dedicated hauls and when they wanted to lower my rates, because someone else was willing to haul it for less, i refused to lower it mine, so I sold my trucks. I did not feel good asking my drivers to cut their pay in order for me to survive, I couldn't do it.
so, as today , I haul loads for whomever pays my rate, otherwise I stay home.

If you got paid for all the behind the scenes work you do as a truck driver, you’d make double what they say.
    60-75k should be closer to
    120-150k
Give two hours of your life to someone before they pay you.
    Some more than that.
Be away from home otr(3-4 weeks) with 1 day off per 7, Maybe sit and wait on a load 24-34 hours(no pay)

Get an office job get paid for all hours while telling the truck driver he didn’t qualify for pay.

I remember the instructor, the younger guy at the school I went to. Said he graduated with 72 other students and five years later him and one other guy were still out on the road. Lol it’s pretty much true. By the end of the first year I think he said that 72 was down to like 15.
