Don’t forget cocaine exporting and/or importing! On my vast knowledge of Florida based on any cop/detective show that takes place down there, that’s where the monies are at. Plus serial killing as a hobby alà Dexter.

Will always be money in selling drugs. Again,.. this is a business. I was referring to working for someone else. Mules are just expendable business expense with a low margin of success.

Not sure on the sustainability or profitability of serial killing. How ever,. there are probably more bodies dumped in the swamps and never found than anywhere else in the country. We have some big hungry critters that live here. Plus lots and lots of water to dump and hide just about anything/anyone.

Most everything has crushed shells in it down in Fla. The limerock thats used for roadbase is nothing but compacted shells.

Fla also use crushed glass and chopped up tires in their asphalt mix

Most highways are using the rubber fill. Holds up better, but sticks worse in the paving trucks. Abrasive materials are perfect for asphault because it's all about grip. As long as it's not going to collapse from use it's fine.

Seems the only drivers finding loads out of FL on the regular are either hauling orange juice, beef or cars. FL is a consumer state whose main industry is tourism (which helps to explain the shoddy wages down here). They don't produce much outside of oranges (duh) and cattle (one of the nation's largest cattle ranches is here -who knew?). As far as the cars are concerned, Jacksonville is a MAJOR auto transport hub. But, yeah, a lot of guys sometimes end up deadheading out of here. If the people I drive for didn't have a couple of major accounts putting food on the table then they probably would've shuttered the business by now.

it's on purpose, like @Hurst mentioned, it's part of our soil.

Don't forget the sugar and veggie crops out of the Okeechobee area...but over all, freight sucks down here. The advantages out weigh the disadvantages. No state income tax, and where I live, cheap property taxes and freedom from an overbearing government that makes it feel as though you need a special permit to breathe. Plus, not long ago, we were 2nd only to KY for horses (which isn't a huge trucking boone), and in the early 2000's, we were high on the list for being a dairy production state.

They can keep their sugar loads-been there done that. Spent a week at the sugar place in South Bay one day. Unfriendly people at that with the most ridiculous speed bumps.

So, at least you'll know a week in advance that you are likely losing your home in about seven days.
Cool! I'll just move back to Kansas.
