I was at landstar awhile ago and remember seeing lots of freight around the dollar ten mark.

I don't think there's any guarantee at landstar for two bucks a mile?

    But been wrong before.

I doubt very many guys at Landstar are averaging 2 bucks on all miles right now. Certainly a lot are, but not everyone is smart enough to figure out how. Here at mercer is the same deal, one guy has no problem averaging 2 bucks. Five others can't figure out how to average a buck fifty.

Also keep in mind, landstar usually talks gross numbers. Not to the truck.

You have to remember 2.00 is gross, you only get 65% pulling their van of that, 1.30 to you. Then you don't get anything for empty miles, add empty miles in and average it out, you won't be too far from the 1.12 the mileage companies are paying, plus they pay for plates, permits etc. you pay for Everything at Landstar.

That said, I still believe in Time, (after you learn the ropes) you could do much better at Landstar on percentage. I know 2 guys that averaged 1.50-1.60 for all miles last year pulling company vans at 65%. They have been around a little while and know the ropes/ lanes to stay in.

The freight pays close to the same for all companies. One company, you pay for everything, trailer, plates, tolls, insurances etc and get a higher rate. At another company they tell you the trailer, plates, tolls are free with discounted insurance etc but the rate is lower so in essence the owner is paying for those thing indirectly.

would you say either way it kind of evens out or does one way have the upper hand? in your opinion. Depending on how you work the lanes and how hard you run?
