I'm a driver. Been a driver for quite a few years. I like to see new drivers come in and be successful. I do what I can to help. The better you do, the better we all do. That's the way it works.
Not referring to you in particular, Mr Fly, just talking n general. For some strange reason, people are looking at the trucking industry as a place where people who have difficulty dealing with society would do well as drivers. They always say, "I am an antisocial loner and I like to drive." There's a lot more to it.
The people that do well do so because it's what they really want to do. The shippers, the receivers, the traffic, the roads, the unknown tomorrow...everything that you see other griping about, they enjoy. It's the difference between reading and study. Study is work. Reading is recreation. Make absolutely sure, that you want to be a driver and can deal with all aspects of the job, good or bad.
Why I'm going to trucking.

I will say this with all due respect to anyone reading this. I drive when I want to, as hard as I want to. Because it's MY choice.
You call me to ask why I am napping for 30 minutes? Whhooo boy. That's not a good phone call to make.
You are on here all the time talking about the old days, how tough you are, how you can nap for 100 miles in the rocking chair, running stupid miles as a team driver with your wife. Fine.
Today is a different time of trucking. I love hearing the stories of yesteryear, yet in your first reply you said dispatch would be breathing down your neck every 5 minutes, now you say you would never let dispatch get away with that. Make up your mind.
Please quit trying to scare new drivers away, when the world today is different than the one you grew up in. I in no way mean disrespect for your younger years, but it's different now. I respect you as a driver, but please let the new ones enjoy the path they choose.Zeviander, Friday, Texact23 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have been called a loser before. Usually because I have fallen off a mountain that others are too afraid to even try to climb.

I too respect you as a Driver and understand that there may be some generational differences, but choose not to make a problem of it. Communicating is one way I can learn from you and others here.
I hope you can see why I used the word fire in reference to a possible problem with Officers in the Company Ownership or Dispatch, Safety and hold responsibility for drivers. But have personality conflicts that are very powerful and sometimes take offense to anyone who show sass or talk back to them for good reasons during the course of a workday in Trucking.
I look forward to future productive exchange of points of view and experiences with you should you be inclined to do that. Have a great 4th and hope that things go well with you.DDlighttruck Thanks this. -
I'm currently a Auto detailer and Bodyman at a fortune 500 Auto Dealer. I'm switching simply for the pay increase.
Believe it or not I have a college education, and in terms of wage it's not even in my best interest to use my education in biology. I simply need money to improve my quality of life - plan an simple.
I also have a small amount of education being a Mechanic, but the money simply isn't there when it comes to fixing cars. Sure you can make some good money, but not until you purchase your own tools so the initial cost of investment isn't favorable either. -

You shouldn't have any problem making $800 - $900 weekly in trucking. Usually that good pay won't start until you're through with all the training phase. Once you're solo in your assigned truck; should be achievable. In the past, Millis drivers posted they have no problem making $50K their first year solo and some make much more as time progresses.

Whats normal Bro? Some people love trucking. Plus for me tiny living space is great. Love having all my stuff within arms reach and love thinking to myself. I was less stressed while driving OTR than at home for sure. Go for it.
