Finally, someone else who agrees that you could eat well at a Flying J buffet because you had choices ESPECIALLY at the salad bar.

I always enjoyed the buffet there to. i think a lot of people complained about it just because they had heard other people complain about it and they wanted to join the fun because they need something to complain about to. Wasnt always great depending on the location but I loved having the choices and the salad bar.I hate to see it gone. i think there are a lot out there that do hate to see it it gone, its just that the powers that be just dont care.

Denny's has never been trucker friendly. Their menu is not geared to our tastes ( well, breakfast is OK at times ), but does list cheap tasting meals, that are high priced. The atmosphere in a Denny's is terrible, also. Too office-like. I like to relax as I enjoy a brief rest.
When I eat, I want a nice, well balanced GOOD TASTING meal, and I do not mind paying a little extra for what I want .
No more fuel for me at The "J".:yes2557:

You can find most of Denny's menu in the freezer at wal-mart
All you need is a freezer and microwave in your truck and a hand drawn Denny's sign

Why the dislike? Try going into the truck stop Denny's at Flying J and walk right in and grab a menu and sit yourself down where you want. 9 times out of 10 the staff will ask you to get your butt up and go stand by the cashier and wait to be seated. \

Understand: it's a dang truck stop not a 5 star fine cuisine Ruth's Chris steakhouse or something lol with dark interior and candlelight, harps players strumming as you wait in the sitting room next to the teak bar.

I like the food OK but I dislike Denny's because Denny's dislikes me (and a lot of other types like me, ie. truck drivers, construction workers etc).

Well..they changed their specials monthly. The core menu stayed the same but at least they offered some different specials each month. Some months it would be the same as the last month (like during summer I think?).

They used to have a recipe contest where people could submit recipes for potential addition to the Flying J menu. I still can't believe they gave a guy a $250 Flying J gift card for his brilliant recipe of adding pulled pork to a Cuban sandwich.

One of the reasons I dislike Dennys is it is now in virtually every J as well as some pilots and elsewhere. The menu's the same. The service usually is poor to none. The food is bland and expensive.
At least when there was a different restaurant at different stops, the menu changed. How often can you eat a whateverbird sandwich or try and figure out the configuration of a Grand Slam?
Gimme a greasy spoon every time...

What are so great about Flying J's food? Over 6 years driving and never ate at a good flying j. They were last in the line of the major truckstop chains. Not a huge fan of Denny's, but way better than country market.

Personally,I would find a good buffet more than once in awhile,no,not eat till ya puke, but, pork, skinless chiken,et.,and, the prie was right. I DO miss thee breakfeast buffets at the old J,however, they can still be found at other T.S."s.

I ordered the breakfast burrito and will never order it again. No joke, was the worst I ever had, and took a few bites and that was it. The taste was horrible, and I think they microwaved it being all soggy and all.. Also tried an omelette that I didn't like.
