A bunch of sheeple run into a stationary object in broad daylight and somehow this is the driver's fault? I fail to see it. Driving down the road tossing chunks of tire, steel belting and tread is more dangerous for other on the road than sitting off on the shoulder.

Pretty much all #$%hole mega's will always have an excuse as to why it's always the drivers fault.
Seems common sense has gone out the window here. If given a choice, I will always choose what is best for public safety. If I get a ticket for that, I will likely beat it in court. If I get fired, I can get another job. The Fed HOS does have emergency allowances. Use them if needed for public safety, a court would always agree with that aspect if need be. Just make sure it was a situation that was truly out of your control, and you do actually shut down at the very next logically "reasonable" safe and legal place.
If a big wreck were to occur because I did a stupid thing and shut down on the side of the road, I could lose my carrier, get sued and loose everything I own, and even go to jail, especially if someone dies. It's your choice, A simple HOS fine that you will likely beat is all that's at stake for going to a safe and legal place to stop.
Now those dammed super single tires should be outlawed. They are unsafe, period. Seems they tried this greedy tire marketing trick 30 or so years ago and it failed. We have a new generation of chumps that refuse to look back at history, and here we go again. P.T. Barnum would be proud of today's tire marketers.
Do you know why they bury attorney's 12 feet under?

To quote.....
Driving 1 minute beyond your 14 hours on duty is still not legal. No matter what you think you read, I promise you. You did not read it correctly.
You gotta stop mixing safety, common sense, and legal all in the same thought. It wont work.
This horse has been beat, it recovered and I just beat it again. Because its Thursday still! -
