Some find the adventure better than the destination. Some like to have more freedom than others. There is no best way , there is only a best way for YOU. Do you want to be a driver or a business owner ? Driving a truck is a job not a business. Owning a carrier is a business entity not a job but could turn into a job worse than being a driver. The financial reason for becoming a carrier is simply you get the retail rate for your services and if your an owner operator you give up a percentage of that retail rate and get the wholesale rate. How much do you want to do ???

 

First example: You can do what you want, when you want, and you can negotiate for better rates.

 

It boils down to the final cpm left .. 35% of 3.00 a mile freight can be better than 100% of 2.00 a mile loadboard freight once other expenses are factored in

 

Become a carrier. Try it out. See how easy it is and make all those $k's yourself. But .... if after doing that for a year will you come back on this forum and be honest enough to tell us it's not as easy as it seems ????
