I ended up nosing in to a spot the other night. I was pulling out of a fuel lane and up ahead a truck was pulling out of a spot. It was nine pm, the truck stop was getting full and instead of flipping a ##### in the pay lanes to back her in I just nosed in...

Lazy? Probably. Lack of backing skill? Entirely likely.

But... I'm absolutely positive the two dryvan drivers on either side of me appreciated the fact that my noisy reefer was now 53' in the opposite direction from them. It's the little things don't ya know!

Any number of reasons; too tired to back, about to pee the pants. etc., adding space to dull the roars of reefers, avoiding other noise and/or light, experience having their load seals removed, disguising when they are/not in the truck, the list is practically endless.

I forgot one reason I like to nose in for parking instead of backing in...

... I just like to see other truckers get their panties all in a bunch.

Personally I don't have to use truck stops as I'm home everyday but I can see why guys do it. Who cares! Get some experience under your newbie belt and mind your own business. Your one of those guys that will talk crap to the wrong driver one day and be picking yourself up off the pee puddles.

I've nosed in once and that's because I had straight shot backing out.
