I think you run as the freight runs. This is why I am not a fan of that 8. whatever hours a day so you can run 7 full days. When I was active I ran as hard as I could until I ran out of hours and then I took a day off when there was lots of freight. When there was a reduction of loads I ran light. I remember once getting up at 9 AM driving for about 4 hours and shutting down. My primary point being you as a driver should be in a position to react to the ever-changing freight requirements. It's actually a bit foolish to do otherwise. I remember a guy who was running recap hours. He was sitting in the Atlanta Petro really peeved that he lost a good load and was stuck in Atlanta. I don't fully remember the exact situation, but he did not get to the shipper in time and his company had to give it to another driver. He was taking a 34 if I remember correctly so he could get another load from out on Fulton Industrial.
I can't say this enough, run the freight, but don't forget to take a break from time to time. Because honestly if you don't break that mindset it will finally break you!Another Canadian driver and Dave1837 Thank this. -
LOL but I get what you're saying completely. People should definitely be doing more to help the next person out instead of bring them downAnother Canadian driver and TripleSix Thank this. -

I’m either in a hurry to pick up the load, deliver the load, or go home. If I’m trucking my main goal is to get back home as fast as I can.
