Heck, in honor of your scoring system, I'm changing my avatar!
-
That scoring system doesn't apply to me for one reason . . . even though I got my CDL in 1999, I'm more old school because of my father's 30+ years in the biz.
-
Okay, you get to move up one notch!!!
Lilbit Thanks this. -
Just a general overview, nothing statistically correct.
I might also add the forum TOS would not allow for a more descriptive analogies LOL !! -
I consider myself old school/followed tradition, even though I attended a school in '88, since, after "graduating" I ended up working for and learning from very old school owner operators and applied much of the mindset to the way I operated.
-
then surely i get to move up a few notches for picking this forums collective brain for the last 2+ years

Here it is in a nutshell, and I've had 13 years to figure this out:
Before deregulation, drivers were running around this country on luck. Smoking dope, drinking and driving, and having a wild 48 states kinda party. Some of these guys are still around, and alot of them say "It's not like it used to be" in a grumpy sort of way. Alot of them quit the industry, only because they are the ones who refused to grow up and act like adults.
Ofcourse it's not like it used to be. The system was taken advantage of, and that is the reason why we have the rules we do today.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm not trying to step on toes with my elder drivers, ten fow -
Not sure why you don't see it now ?
Its much more prevalent now then it was back then,ESPECIALLY the Luck thing.

I am 4th generation, both my grandpas hauled cows and produce. great grandpa hauled out of tahatchopee,CA.
Dad taught me the most, but still like to listen to grandpas stories. they would all be disappointed if they had to drive day in and out now. times change.
