I worked in the office at Trans Am for 7 years, in all different deptartments. My final was the Recruiting Dept. They make Lease sound great, but as they tell the office people don't worry about the driver's your job is to get them in here so we can make money. Trans AM Trucking is a very bad company to work for. Johnny Jacobson use to be the owner he was bought out and since then the company has went downhill. Their program for students sounds good, they give you miles to begin with, once you are in your own truck they don't get you home as promised, and they only give you enough miles to pay your lease, nothing else. 95% of lease driver's fail in the first year.
Worked in Office Trans AM Dont work for them

And just FYI I have not worked for them for over 2 years, have no hard feelings when I left. Just hated seeing peoples life being played with. All you driver's are out there doing is trying to make a living. I have to much respect for you guys..
drvrtech77, yankeefan and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
the lease deal is bad no doubt
but it is a starter company after all
but as a company driver you learn enough to move on
I just left there after 2 years to a $60000/year job
that without the 2 year experience I couldn't have receivedcaftransport and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Well most lease deals aren't written in favor of the driver. Basically you're paying for the privilege of driving their truck and paying for all the operating expenses.
drvrtech77 and zentrucking Thank this. -
an experienced driver can barely survive a lease
no rookie should ever lease
but the shiny new KW's will still attract drivers
they do run nice equipment -
I hear you. It's hard enough to be an owner operator these days when you own the truck outright. Imagine making those lease payments during slow freight periods.

I left trans am 2 weeks ago
never seeing my last 5700 miles of pay as a lease driver
but the experience I gained to move on was invaluable
experienced dispatchers helped new dispatchers were a hindrance
common sense as a driver is imperative
if you just let them babysit you you will never survive -
Is this the old trams am Pete? -
u found me under my disguise dang nab it
