It may depend on what your past driving record is. Also, you could be a bit clearer on your "Worst Case Scenario." Are you talking about what the fine will cost, (if you are found guilty or don't fight it," are you talking about what insurance ramifications are going to be, both to you and your company, or are you talking about what your employment, (current and future,) are going to be.

If you have a good driving record, and don't have serious incidents with your company, it likely won't be a problem from that standpoint. And I may be wrong about this, but I'm under the impression that your own private auto insurance won't hold it against you, as long as you were driving on duty. As to the fine, and the points on your license, it will depend on the jurisdiction you got the ticket in.

And then there is your DAC. DAC is going to grab onto this and ding your record, even if you win in court. So if you do win in court, you will need to check your DAC and try to get it removed.

Then there is the new point system everyone is talking about. What do they call it? CSA? I've been retired long enough that I never had to get involved with this.

As others have mentioned, you likely need to fight this ticket. Perhaps not even because of the current damage it will do you, but for sure because of future damage it will do you, by being on your record if, (and when) you have another problem. And let's face it, the chances are very good that any and all of us WILL have another problem down the road.

    Good luck to you.

    Oh yeah, one more thing: S L O W D O W N !

Points - fine - negative CSA effect.

Fight. Always fight. That's what I love about America.
Hi Chinatown, that's easier said than done. Our yellow pages has over 100 pages of lawyers in Milwaukee alone. How could you possibly pick one?:biggrin_2559:
You mean people still live in Milwaukee?

Usually, can find ads that "Specialize in traffic tickets."

Thank you for all the advice. Just want to make it clear that I was not the one that got the speeding ticket. I was talking to the person that did get it and I was just asking to have a little knowledge on the matter. He was working at the time of the ticket and the speed limit was 30 mph and he was going 42 mph. I was just wondering if he would get points, suspended license, fire from work, pay a high fine, etc.... Would it be cheaper for him to pay the fine or get a lawyer to fight the ticket. His license is new, so his driving record is clean.

better fight it,, I got one on a oversized load, (not to exceed 55 mph.) I was doing 70 in a 70. needless to say I got speeding ticket. got a lawyer and he got it reduced to improper equipment, cost me 500 fine and 500 for lawyer. but at least it didn't go on record as 15 over the limit
