It is as bad as it looks. The memo was released kinda late so not many people in my time zone had time to react. What I can say is that everyone left inside the building was on their phone reading the memo.

It's only a matter of hours until the media picks up on this along with whatever is left of our customers.

The fat lady has sang, the curtain have fallen, the emperor has no clothes, and Rome has fallen. Pick an analogy. They are all true at this point.

I'll be honest. I am still trying to process this. My buddy turned in his notice this morning before this all came down. My boss didn't even try to stop him.

Seems like each local union can independently decide to go on strike over this, not a collective action nationwide. Does each local have to put this to a vote, or can they make a unilateral decision? The language is very specific but also vague at the same time.

It's not going to matter. As soon as everyone has the memo there will be nobody left to attend a picket.

Our benefits are the #1 reason why we put up with making $6+/hour LESS than any other carrier. You take that away and that's it. I was talking to my buddy about how this might be our last full week working together. Reality is once our customers get a hold of all of this, there will be no need for us to clock in anymore. Hell, our morning supervisor was trying to give out company convenience days to any driver willing to take one. This is on a Monday.

I am hoping I get a call back tomorrow from this company I applied to. My buddy put in a good word for me and he said that he would join me when he gets back from NYC.

My theory is that Yellow will ask employees to wait out their healthcare needs or pay out of pocket until the company can make the back payments. Depending on how the company spins it and if members get to vote or not, it could buy more time. Still, it's a long shot and it seems very messy with each local union having the final say over what happens next.

That might work for our younger portion of the workforce that is still in good health. Could you imagine having a pregnant wife who is due next week or have a long scheduled medical procedure that will rival most mortgages?

My daughter was C-section with medical complications for my wife. That would have set us back $45,000 but the insurance absorbed all of it.

Yellow is out of leveraging power because they have zero credibility left. What happened today is the final nail in the coffin. This is no longer a recoverable situation.
