Hell guess I am in violation a lot; sleep in my bunk, but eat in the drivers seat, and read or watch tv. 10 hours SB is not going to happen in the bed; will be out walking, bsing, then sleep.

well, true enough, cant spend a full ten in the bunk, They expect you to shoe line 1 when not in the sleeper, However if Im not in the truck I would not answer questions anyway.

And no they dont need to enter to make syre your sleeper conform's it is certified by the manufacture, unless your driving a crewcab thats has a converted back seat. Drivers get intimidated too easy, when in doubt demand a supv.

Try telling them they don't need to check your tires/brakes/lights because it is certified by the manufacturer.... Yes they can get inside your truck and measure your sleeper any time they want since it is in the regulations.

Remember, this is the United States DOT we are talking about - the same one that when you are a one truck owner operator, you will have to have in your files that you interviewed and road tested yourself to run under your own authority among other ridiculous requirements.

In some states there are rules regarding recording another person without their knowledge or consent. Do these rules still apply to driver facing camera's if you get stopped by a DOT officer, do you have to notify them that they will be recorded by it?

If you're not on duty, why would you talk to them?

"Sorry officer, but I am off duty and will be for another three hours. I would be happy to talk to you then."

You wouldn't invite them into your home to inspect your logs if you were on days off.

    According to who or what?

You are subject to inspection if you are on duty. If a vehicle is parked in a legal spot and the driver is not required to be in attendance ,i.e., is off duty, then there is no requirement to comply.

Oh, and the answer is also "no" for those that think because you have a brief discussion with a LEO that you are automatically on duty. There is a Guidance that addresses "brief" interruptions to a driver's rest.
