One time I called my mother at 8 AM, just to stay awake --- she's still in the old country.
When she asked how I was doing today, I told her " I don't know, yesterday hasn't quit yet.....".
Sometimes 22 hrs is fine, sometimes 8 hrs is too much. The outlaw stuff is not for me anymore. Too old for that anymore.... -
Ft Lauderdale, FL to FT wayne, IN. Im not proud of it either, but I did it to make an appointment, I also reported my Comany that booked that without asking me first. As when I got to FT Wayne, he asked me to do another short haul for him and I was tired and told him I needed sleep. He pleaded with me, I said yes, and the next day gave him a nasty letter saying I'll never do that again or I'll report him to the DOT. He lost his temper with me, and I quit, and reported him anyways. I think the driver should be the one to decide when he cannot drive, not the DOT, or the employer, but I'll side with the DOT much more than I would with the company. I'll also side with the DOT about tired divers needing breaks. I won't side with them when my 14 hour rule says I need to sleep when I'm not tired, aND stay awake when a short nap could be safer.

My longest day has been around 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds.
That has also been my shortest day.
Rotationally speaking, of course.
Going on solar time, today was rather a long day at 24 hours, 0 minutes, 0.0021376 seconds.
There are also other ways of measuring the length of a day here on earth.
I guess there are even more ways, less scientific, to measure a day.
Like how many miles, how many construction zones, how long at a shipper...
How long in a dentists chair might qualify as the very longest day, bordering on eternity, but such things are subjective. -
I've done multiple 48 hour shifts working a non-driving job, then there were all the shift on, shift off days, for a week straight. 9hrs on duty, 7hrs off duty.
Plus a few times doing a field exercise for the military, I was up for 48-60 hours.... Driving? I've done maybe 22 hours awake, fully legal according to elogs. Off duty doesn't mean sleeping......lol
