Yep. I run my own show for the time being, but that may not last forever...

I was once a proud Teamster, but will not proudly fly that union flag anymore.

The insurance is absolutely amazing. I worked for Reddaway and then Holland until last week. I took a $13k pay cut due to my loss in health benefits.

I still would discourage anyone from signing on. The company is $1.9 billion in debt and they are consolidating and merging terminals left and right. You may find yourself without a job next year.

I never understood this thinking. I had a guy say years ago that didn’t work for a company with a pension,he wouldn’t take a job like that because you could lose your pension so he decided to take a job that doesn’t even have a pension.B4 I would take a $13 thousand dollar cut I would just ride that horse until I was out of a job.

Easy to say until you end up with a two month layoff and literally nobody is hiring.

Myself and 8 others got laid off last November without any warning. They brought us back but only three of us came back. Everyone else quit. I was the first one to go after I was brought back in January.

Quitting while being ahead is not the same as quitting. You can not run 47 drivers on 300 bills a day. Not when you usually run 500+ this time of the year on deliveries alone.

Trust me. Where there is smoke there is fire.

Owner ops were the first to go, then whole companies. Well companies =employees. It’s not the best time to be in trucking. For those that are still able to get it done, put some money aside. If you’re with a company that is still holding on, think twice before jumping ship. If your OTR, have enough to fly home if you’re stranded.

Holy crap. Their operating ratio is 100.8%. that's unbelievable and I am glad I left when I did.

It's sad to see these guys go. Especially after YRC is now calling the shots.

This is one hell of a death spiral.

I'm wondering if we'll see another Consolidated Freightways here. One day they were there, and the next day they weren't...

My first thought. Given all their financial woes I wouldn't be surprised if they collapsed like a cheap souffle.

And no, I don't wish any of my former colleagues or management ill. But this reconsolidation is just rearranging the patio furniture on the Titanic
